I'm guessing without ever having done it that is the Kylesku bridge up the NW coast when doing the North Coast 500?  The front cover shot from Evo a couple of months back.  One of these days when life provides more time.

Yes indeedy - I did the full NC500 at the start of August - I'll do a proper write up soon, but I think that's about the only pic I have with the car in it! That bridge is also about the only place i saw any other interesting cars on the entire trip!

As threatened promised earlier, a selection of shots from my run up to Mallaig and back.

Unfortunately it tipped it down somewhat for almost all of the outward leg so by the time the first opportunity to wield a camera presented itself my P&J was considerably less gleaming than when it left home, having by then already endured 150+ miles of mud and road-grime, :(.

Great photo's @Alfa2Evoraand nice looking Evora... what colour is it? In some photo's it looks like Aquamarine and in other Laser Blue?

Laser Blue - but depending on the lighting it can appear as just about any shade of blue you care to think of.

The same as any S with the cover removed (and the black bar removed).

Hmmm, I've heard both versions before. Perhaps that's why Silverstone offered to fit one for me FOC when I questioned why it wasn't there when I bought mine

At least the "no stock, new model coming out" is more plausible, even if it isn't the case, than the whim of an egocentric B-)

@trcm

Am I correct in thinking that you bought the last SR made? If so, would you mind taking a photo of your engine bay and posting it on here? I'm intrigued to see what the 'deleted engine cover' looks like.

Not exactly, it was the last 'unregistered' Evora S SR I believe, but I doubt it was the last one off the production line,

maybe I should get a certificate of provenance or whatever Lotus call them?

Oh, and I have an engine cover :)

Colin, I would love to see a pic of the Capri's engine bay to see how he has managed to 'shoehorn' the V8.

There were a line of "official" conversions from South African dealers for these, the "Perana" Capri

Bit of info for you: http://www.perana.org/capriv8.asp

@JayEmm cheers James; very interesting and quirky! I was aware that S. Africa was a good source for comparatively rust free Mk1 & 2 Escorts but was not aware that they were modding Capri's there back in the day as well.  @Colin G Thanks Colin, I have an engine bay obsession and am always on the lookout for interesting car and engine/drivetrain combinations!

It's not the best looking engine bay Jimmy, but it's going to be quite a beast once it has a few bits tidied. Taking us a bit off topic from Evora's, but I did make a quick vid when we went down to the MOT centre with the car, gives you an idea of the noise at least, I've had to trim it to a few seconds so as not to exceed the forum limit.

Was playing around with my drone today. Had to crop it down and need to find an open field to do it properly.

I mentioned this on Coco's facebook, but to echo the sentiment here. This picture superbly shows just how far back in the car the engine really is. It might technically be "mid" engined, but this goes a long way to explaining the 911-like weight distribution

It looks like an over stuffed whale but still very nice.

In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!
