Gear change cable gaiters

It's brilliant that you took so many photographs. You should write a book!

Glad I didn't order the SJ ones now, they are off a mountain bike by the looks of things. Not good news when both Lotus and specialists are selling solutions they know won't fit.

To be fair to SJ, they DO fit, but only when you 've cut the cuff off the end. Mine have been fine thus far. And trust me, I did a LOT of looking around at the time.

I take photos for two reasons - firstly for my benefit (because half the time I forget where things go), and secondly in order that others may benefit from my trials and tribulations, and not make the same silly mistakes I did!

The book deal? I'm no Barbara Cartland.

No joy with those boat gaiters unfortunately, the length was fine but the bellows were slightly too wide, touching the side of the carrier bracket a bit too much to risk them dragging or snagging. No time for more faffing so it was out with the superglue on the oldones.

For the future though, one option looks to be the SJ gaiters with the original "big" end glued to them (given that its usually the bellows that crumble and thends are OK).

I don't like to Superglue gaiters, but whatever you feel works for you.

Like I said, the SJ ones will fit, as long as you cut the end off carefully on a large diameter convolution, and use a thin cable tie. Having said that, I should back it up by seeing how mine are faring, as I'm likely to be poking around underneath the car this weekend.
