Compared to the modern cars the Esprit is overly generous on the bootage front (and rear).....

TBH, the lack of luggage capacity (notwithstanding the +0 or +2 aspect) of the Evora is one of the things putting me off. Yes I know it has many redeeming qualities and is a class apart compared to the antediluvian underpinnings of my Esprit but luggage space front and back is one of its major attractions. But then I am an Esprit obsessive.....

Lotus website gives more details on the new roadster starting price as per the coupe; looks like the quilted interior has survived

But sadly it seems like it is only the doors and seats that is quilted.

I would like the leather dash and to save some mobey I would like a NA version. Remove the supercharger.

It really is the most beautifull road car in a long time, imho.

NOOOOOOOOOO! Don't remove the Supercharger! Get rid of the Ancilliary crap like Air Con (u don't need it in a soft top) and really? Quilted leather?

The Supercharger is AWESOME! I used to thrash my car just to hear it wind itself up!

At last and good to see the details up on the website. But disappointed to see they are still advertising the fancy Lotus Magazine which died months ago. Come and guys, updates please!

I think it'd make sense a N/A version to be more GT oriented. The Supercharger version is just 'too fast' for my drivestyle to be honest. And I'm less into track focused cars (I can stop thinking the AM Vantage is now in the 30k£ bracket...)

Its for the sale of back issues, which are still available. I've flagged this with them and that's the reason.

Ah, OK. Every bit of revenue counts I guess....

It seems to appeal to me a little more than the hard top, probable because it won't feel so small for us more "manly" sized enthusiasts. I hear nothing will be available until after Goodwood.

Trevor.

I'll get around to it at some point.

Disappointed, as I expect many are, by the lack of a Geneva/Goodwood style interior (quilted seats/door cards aside) but do Lotus offer this kind of thing as an extra, i.e. leather covered dash, door top handles, sills ect. Don't know anyone who's ever had any such work done by Lotus although I've seen a few good specialist re-trims over the years.

I you specify the premium interior it does.

Ahh, thanks. I missed that. Nice.

Though leather sills, will it not be hard to keep them clean or unbroken, my english might be a bit off, but I mean will you not over time have a hard time not to scar and rip the leather on the sills with your shoes? Never been in a Elise so I might be way of.

Now offer a cheaper version sans the supercharger and I will be very tempted. 280 hp in 1160 kg should be more than enough on the public road. A 8-9 thousand £ less.

Though I do get the people wanting the supercharger.

$120k for one of these here so even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be. :(

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

The premium interior is just quilted seats/door cards; I was referring to the fully trimmed roadster interior as seen in the Geneva/Goodwood car.

No it isn't; all the dash, sills, vent cowls etc are all covered in leather like the Geneva Show car. It's just that they are black to reduce glare on to the windscreen. The seats, door cards, centre console, door pulls etc are then in a coloured leather of your choice. E.g Cognac like the show car.

Ben,

According to the Lotus Exige S brochure the premium pack for both the "Coupe" and "Roadster" includes leather dashboard and sills with the steering wheel in "full" black leather with the foot well area being carpet + leather HTH

Agree, looks great from most angles. I'm sure it would be a lovely thing to own and maybe even the better car for road driving. If only I was grown up enough to realize that being restricted to 145mph might even be an advantage in the real world!
