Can't use the NAV.....

Despite changing the source to NAV and the visual to NAV also I can't seem to use it.....

Whenever I touch the screen the menu appears and you can't do anything? I'm sure it's something simple......pic below. Any hints?

Un plugging the battery might be a good idea, never thought of that.

For what it is worth, I have the alpine ina -w900. It locked up a few months back on the way to the dealer for other service. The dealer called Alpine Tech while I was there. They were told to reboot it by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes. They did that and it has been fine since.

I've heard from other owners that there is also a reset on the bottom right that you can insert a paperclip into ( at least on the ina -w900). I have not tried that.

Not sure if either will work for the IVA-W505R. Is there a small hole to the right of the open button on the IVA-W505R?

There is, but it doesn't make any difference. Its just a power off/on i think. Certainly didnt cure the problem

Mine froze a while back (non-Blackbird version). The re-set button on the front didn't sort it out (and I think wipes the radio channel memory), but the system re-set itself when I left the car parked overnight and has been fine since. Otherwise, try the battery disconnect route suggested above.
