Rum Rebels - Portobello Road, London

Who'd be up for an afternoon/evening on the lash in London?

 

Based in the Trailer Happiness 'Rum-tiki' bar on Portobello Road we'll have an afternoon (90 mins) of learning about and tasting some of the world's rums (we tried six) then some time in the bar. They stock 189 rums, I enjoyed delights including the 9 rum cocktail called 'The Zombie' and an inch of 'Ron Jeremy' to sip on, it's great fun! 

 

I'm guessing we'll need 20-30 people to come to make it viable, one Saturday afternoon in the spring which gives you a nice chance to attend the world famous Portobello Road antiques market should you wish. Date & costs dependant, can I get a show of hands please?

Sounds like fun, there are a few (actually more than a few)variables for me which have to be right but if everything comes together nicely I would like to join too.

Bumped as a second attempt to garner some interest in this. We'd need to get about 30 people signed up to account for the inevitable drop outs!

It's a great day out and I'd highly recommend it.

Rumfest was a great day out

 

Ian Burrell hosts the event and there were about 100 rums to try. I think I got through perhaps 30-40 and picked up a few nice bottles to bring home. There was a a charity auction too run by Christies which was a real giggle, a bottle from 1780 went for £5k! 

 

My favourite of the day, picked up a bottle and had a few glasses last night at home...

 

 

and currently tucking into a very delicious Dark 'N' Stormy

I ended up spending most of the day getting the esprit into hibernation, not sure I could have tried 30-40 rums I would have been falling all over the place.
