I had to look it up, but I think Fredrik was using the term mil, not miles or km.

A mil in Sweden (today) is 10 kilometers.

But until 1889 a Norwegian mil was 11.295 Meters and a Swedish mil was 10.688,54 meters. The 10.000 meters for a mil of today is traditionally also known as nymil, which Means the new mile. Today both mil and kilometers are used (somewhat) in those two countries, where as in Denmark, it's rarely used, kilometers are far more widespread.

A Danish mil is 7,532.48 Kilometers.

That aside, kilometers, meters, decimeters, centimeters and milimeters are well used in Scandinavia today, and became standard instead of mil, fod, alen and tommer, apart from say woodworking, where many Things are measured in tommer - inches. On measuretapes, there are often both standards, one on each side. And people usually use the Danish tomme instead of decimeters, centimeters and milimeters. Mind you there's a Danish, Swedish and Norwegian inch. Nothing to do with the uk inch or US inch. Rarely an UK or US inch is used for Commerce purposes, e.g. a tv. That is not because of the UK or US though, but china.

Some of the tommer and alen were periodically the same in Denmark and Norway; at other times they differed. Within Denmark, there were local differences, so that an alen from Sjælland (the Island of the soul), differed from say in Jylland (West Denmark).

So, if a Swede tell you something in Mil, it's 10.000 meters per mil (today). Noone uses the UK or US standards in those countries. To Denmark also belongs  Greenland, Færøerne (faroe islands) (both still a part of the Danish kingdom) and Island (Iceland, which used to be Danish as well, together with all of Southern Sweden and most of Norway, plus what is today known as North of Germany and Poland, plus Gotland and some og Estonia- albeit in different time periods, and that is why some of this have integrated into those areas, as well as being plain practical). UK and US is irrelevant to us, as we have our own standards for a thousand years. Likewise with faune, which is a standard for measureing depth when sailing. and many more measurements. Just for clarification.

Regardless, it's a beautiful car and 34000km is still low mileage.

I have been having trouble getting good photos of my White Esprit Turbo especially in bright sunlight. I have been trying to capture the amazing deep gloss shine of the paint work using various settings on my Olympus E410 but could only stop a white wash effect by waiting until the sun was going down making other aspects darker and the shine of the chrome powder coated wheels look no where near as bright as they are in real life. Which looks better out of the 2 photos different settings? My iphone seems to capture the car better?
