BOV Options

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Just wondering what BOV's people were using? After doing the ram air mod, I'm able to hear what's happening in the inlet a lot more clearly. I'm hearing the odd pop that sounds like it could be compressor surge rather than exhaust backfire. Also, there's a lot of flutter when closing the throttle. I like the noise, but not at the expense of wear/possible damage.

I'm looking at the HKS SSQV. Not necessarily a massive fan of the noise, but it seems to be a very well designed piece of kit. Would this T piece (in red) be suitable for fitment with this adapter?

I'd prefer to use one of those (if possible) rather than making a hole somewhere and welding a flange in . I'm thinking it would be best to fit between the turbo and the chargecooler, rather than sending the compressed air through the charge cooler just to be dumped.

Are the hoses before and after the chargecooler the same?

Cheers

I had an HKS clone sourced by Dave Walters on my SE, there's various topics on here already about BOV's.

Ideally you want it between the turbo and chargecooler so you're not vented cooled air from a performance perspective but mine was after, it was much easier to fit.

You can just squeeze it in after the turbo and before the chargecooler as there is a silicone hose there. This is where the carb turbo has it's T piece.

I have some photos somewhere of an installation if you want it?

As Bibs says, nearly all owners connect after the chargecooler as it's easier.

If you have a photo of an install prey charge cooler, that would be great.

Bibs, are those kits still available? The website is down.

Does anyone know if the hoses pre and post cooler are the same? I should have checked when I had the cooler out this weekend but didn't think to

Haven't run with it yet, but I recently bought this BOV and Tee hose for the intercooler.

It is a Synapse Engineering BOV, with re-circulation option, which I plan on using.

Here is the Tee hose, it does fit the Esprit.

Looking at this. Is the price too good to be true?

Apparently there are a lot of fakes floating around. Although if it's a fake, the email Money Back Guarantee should cover it (I'll be paying by paypal.

Ive got the hks ssq4 ready to fit, i did some research to ensure i bought a genuine one, just google fake hks and theres lots of info.

Ive also got a re circulation adaptor from ebay just in case the noise doesnt suit my car as such once its up and running.

The turbo side is smaller in both diameter and length. I find it unlikely that a tee hose would fit in the space available, even if you found one in the correct diametre.

Here are a few pictures of my first turbo with a BOV fitted just after the turbo.
