Lotus Evora 400

I didn't really look at it as I've poked around the Frankfurt car a few times. It's the only Evora on show and is obviously just a prototype/development car. I believe it was used as transport to Goodwood by JMG and added to the stand as an after thought.

Before Scott manoeuvred it to its "display" position, it had been dumped unceremoniously down the side of the stand .

Strange strategy for such a pivotal car at such an important motorshow. Still, what would I know?

I was just coming home on the A14 and I'm pretty sure this one appeared in my rear-view mirror. It looks pretty much like a grey old shape one from a distance. I followed it for a couple of minutes at a safe distance before we parted company at the A11/A14 split. IMHO it looks pretty good from behind too, but I've never really understood why the 'high-level' brake light one either version isn't up high on the roof...

I think I prefer it with the Lotus lettering...

  :getmecoat:

Jonny, until that post I used to think you were a great poster with thoughtful and insightful additions to this Forum!  You were right with your emoticon!!  Either that or this :sofa: would have been appropriate!!  :P

However apart from that clearly pissed comment which we can ignore for now as a minor transgression, that interior does look nicer than the present car and nicer than the Geneva car.

The comment about the Frisbee by Barrie is interesting as every Evora has one and I think the Exige as well so must be the poor angle but I can see what you mean.  Cool, every Lotus comes with a games station now as well.

PS This is a production prototype, we can only pray it's like this on the finished car :D

I hope they have find a way to fit some brushed or gunmetal aluminum part instead of this cheap looking plastic trim.

Launch should be imminent now. I guess first reviews will be out next week or week after next. I wonder what kind of PR stunt the product launch specialist has planned.

OK I'll qualify that by saying the Lotus lettering in black. It just looks a bit 'miscellaneous european sports car interior' around the infotainment screen without it.

Probably best change the subject, the pitchforks will be out again!

So, moving on...

So, today I'm driving back to Louth, in Lincolnshire (which in the proper middle of nowhere), at about 1730hrs on the A157, when what should I see, but the Evora 400 in cam driving in the opposite direction. I nearly wet myself. Why would the Evora 400 mile be coming out of Louth towards Wragby? Strange. Was so suprised I didn't even get time to flash it. But embarrassed about that.

Anyone know what it was doing up in North Lincolnshire? My best guess is a nice long drive.

Awesome

I didn't fully appreciate that the new grills in the bumper are there to feed the chargecooler. So many fake grills on cars these days I thought they were there primarily to give the car a more aggressive look. Turns out it's form following function after all and also why Lotus couldn't 'just make it look like the GTE'.

^^^ IP for the GTE  front and rear bumpers may belong to mansory... That could be the reason why. No desire from JMG and RC to owe anything to DB and DC... other than the F1 team most traces of DB's ruling have been all but erased from the website.

So two cars are undergoing heat testing in Nevada while the production line is already active at Hethel... I hope that these cars are just two "production validation" prototype and nothing else ...

Interior looks good in black, I do like it better than in red but wonder how tan leather will look...

That grey is interesting, it's very military like, the car does look like a figther jet imo and the side mirrors do look sharp.

Oh that rear wing it does look so much like the business... I was really not a fan of the mirrors at first but now they do look good to me.

Hot weather testing test for the engine bay with a special exhaust for the purpose of it. That engine bay is going to get toastee...

I'll take my Evora black cause it is just sensational in that color. Wondering if the 5 spokes wheels available on the Exige S could be optioned on the Evora.

Much prefer darker interiors, but that's just a personal preference, and really like the battleship/pusser's grey.

I agree it looks Military, especially from the front - almost stealth?

Looks like the infamous lettering is absent from the ICE surround in the interior picture.

I am seriously looking forward to the first reviews etc.

Get it launched and to the dealers already!

^^^I second that motion.

I think it maybe  another week at least to leave the dust settle on the autocar Evora roadster piece and the 3Eleven unveil. But journos must have received  their invites already it's the summer time and.

Bibs, any news on a potential Lotus presence at the Frankfurt autoshow?

I wish they had used a sort of two colored back like the 3-eleven

Yeah me too. It could have been a very distinctive new look aggressive Lotus signature.

I asked Lotus yesterday when it will be available for us to review, awaiting their reply.

Yes. It's starting to look like they weren't ready. Good hype almost already forgotten by the public!

Broken record unfortunately springs to mind...

God I love it in that Battleship Grey! The more I see it the more I realise I may need to sell a child!

I would assume the Nevada testing is for a "Hot Pack". We used to have them at other brands I have worked for and normally includes upgraded Air Con, Coolling systems, Airflow etc. and tend to be for Middle eastern/Asian Markets. MJK always used to have his cars tested in Death Valley and actually did some of the Esprit work himself.

I would assume the ones being built are for Northern Europe.

Our Range Rover had that option and boy did that AC crank!

If the car is not from the UK or Italy; it's not worth talking about.
