downloaded and installled espritmon

Havent driven with it running yet as need to let laptop battery charge up

Sitting in garage and running it the only codes which come up are 41 - Brake switch open and 58 - Brake lights.

I did swap out the bulbs in center wing mounted brake light with LED's so am guessing at a minimum 58 is due to that..

Thoughts while I let laptop battery charge?

Have you checked when you press the brake that the brake lights come on?

Abs units need to see the peddle is operational - not sure about the esprit - but a faulty switch is very common

On some of the old Vauxhall - they were tucked up on top of the brake pedal hinge assembly

It's likely it has two sets of contacts - one for brake lights - one to the abs unit - at least my old Astra did!!!!

A quick check with multimeter will confirm the switch

And there will be a pressure switch or sensor buried somewhere as well that you will need to find and test

It is always the simple things. . Removed LED's from third brake light, Removed LED's from third brake light, put in OEm ones and VIOLA!! No more flashing ABS warning light

The LEDs probably caused a low resistance situation. The proper bulbs fix that.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

I think as long as you have one incandescent bulb installed the rest can be LEDs. The ABS computer needs to be able to sense current through the filament even with the brake lights off.
