Finally got to see a 410 in the flesh last week. One of the new Swedish dealers just took delivery of a grey metallic 410.  Looks really good, but personally I think it deserves a brighter colour. Such as yellow or orange.

@Gadzooks I tend to find issues where parts have been supplied to Lotus by someone else get fixed miraculously fast.

I suspect your tailgate will just get thrown back at their supplier.

mmm freshly run-in 410, quite a prospect. I'd be looking for the nearest tunnel, via the wiggliest bit of road on the map.

The new tailgate took 3months to arrive (which is to be expected) and the old one has gone back to Prodrive(?) for inspection.  Don't know if it's possible to refurbish them.

@Stubox oil changed already? (I believe after the driving in period the first (different) oil still has to be changed within first small Service?

This Saturday...but even with the rev limit it's been a joy, one of those cars that early morning blasts were made for.  There are a few weird Evora niggles but I can now see why there's a lot of love for this setup.

BTW is was at Silverstone getting my carbon tailgate replaced due to it having a 5-6mm air bubble in the surface.  Lotus exchanged it without quibble.

410 ordered.

Another Exige owner making the jump over to Team Evora, though there seems to be a fair bit of traffic both ways. Never had one before but always admired them and have thoroughly enjoyed every one I've driven.

The spec is a bit special but as with the car - no spoilers!

I spec'd a GT430 to £120,800 (not including OTR costs) there's a lot I really like about it but I don't prefer it to the 410 in every single way, so I can think of better uses for a Sport 410 plus over £30,000!

Can't wait to see the car which should be due hopefully before the end of October.

In terms of extras (or lack of) I'm going for sound deadening but no stereo, manual gearbox (natch!), cruise control (for a nicer looking steering wheel as much as anything, helps stick to the speed limit too) and seriously tempted by the titanium silencer. It wasn't on the table until I spec'd the GT430 but I now see the 410 as saving money so it doesn't look so bad suddenly!

I did ask if I could get the GT430's brakes and Ohlins dampers fitted during build but I don't believe this will be possible unfortunately. I imagine they might become optional once the GT430's have all been sold. A Sport 430 is also likely before too long I would imagine and with Ohlins and the uprated brakes would be a decent performance step and good excuse to hike the price once more. Should be quite a car if/when it happens but this isn't a spectator sport, at some point you have to jump on the train or get left behind.

I'm taking the 4.10 to Evora (city in Portugal, oh never mind!).

@The PitsGood call! The 410 is one sexy bit of kit. And it's a damn lot easier to get in and out of compared to the Exige.

I'd put the stereo back in if I were you, it might be a bit of a bugger to move on without it when the time comes and (from the 400 at least) it's actually fairly audible, there's much less wind noise and includes sat nav. Or you can change the head unit if you don't like it. Unless they are going to wire the whole car up anyway and then put the blanking plate in?

Very easy to fit a head unit at a later date if anyone wanted to. Front speakers are already in there. When buying new I think it's important to have the car exactly as you want it, otherwise do the smarter thing and buy used. To spec the car with the next owner in mind is missing the point for me. Most people buy on colour anyway, if they don't like the colour having a head unit in there isn't likely to sway them. I think a 410 should make some sacrifice to the gods of lightweight, I feel uncomfortable specc'ing a lot of weight back in and would like to try a car without sound deadening to see if I could live with it. No opportunity to do that so not willing to take the risk at this price level. Might have given it an extra edge to differentiate it further from the 400, might have been earplugs on the motorway so played safe with that!

A one-off colour to date I believe with some nice touches, for me anyway, I doubt it won't be to everyone's taste. Wanted to do something unique with the interior but the colour I asked for would have involved fire testing and various other hoops, not worth it in the end. Will still be a unique car which makes some sense of buying new for me. If I wanted one I'd already seen I'd have bought dealer stock. Some really nice cars out there currently, particularly like the Military Grey car at Howards, also their purple 410.

Congratulations Jonny!  I can't imagine this has been too easy a decision given how much you love your V6 Cup, I'm sure the 410 will give you as much pleasure.  I look forward to seeing your ownership videos in due course too. 

Are you planning to track the car as well?  I note you are thinking about the Ti exhaust which I guess will mean noisy days only.

Yes will be taking the 410 on track and will see how I get on with noisy days first. 4 or 5 trackdays a year is about what I'm doing now anyway, that's plenty for me in addition to race weekends. Not much point in the Ti pipes if I swap it out for something quieter so will have to bear that in mind.

410 comes with carpets anyway so losing sound deadening might not be such a big deal. Again though, it's a risk not worth taking as it can't be realistically retro fitted. If the car is a bit too quiet I can lower the window for more noise any time I like. If the car is too noisy I'm stuck with it. In an ideal world Lotus would have cars in various specs available to try. In this world it is what it is.

Fire testing just because it was a new colour fabric that Lotus don't currently stock and they'd have to go through all the regulations. Maybe Lotus don't want to buy a huge roll of the stuff just for one car. All things being equal lots of pain for little gain. I've seen pretty much the same interior as I'm going for in another 410 and it's superb. I was recommended to go another way with a full leather interior which I totally get and would have looked spectacular, would have added the stereo with that too but it just starts to edge the car towards something more luxurious and away from the more hardcore side of the car which appeals to me. I owned a V12 Vantage and the luxury was nice but a bit wasted on me. I didn't miss any of that with the V6 Cup. The proposal for a full leather interior would have taken the car back in that direction. Full Alcantara is a signature Lotus Sport thing, it's lightweight, it grips you better in the corners and I love the stuff. So sticking with that.

I could post up some photoshops of what's planned but do you all really want to see that now? Only a couple of months to wait for the real thing!

I believe the B&C exhaust saves a similar amount to the Lotus item and is very track friendly, albeit nowhere near the aural excitement. Quite a bit cheaper too.
