Need new top suspension joints - already

Recommended Posts

Strange this, top ball joint failed, well an advisory, but I feel I have only just done them, then I realised that I did replace them but 12 years ago. Doesn't time fly. So I need a pair of top ball joints for my 1990 SE anyone know if there is an equivalent or where to buy ?

Thanks bibs, I have had the car so long it's inevitable that I will be going around replacing parts for a second time. Anyone else got to the stage of replacing second time around ?

The ball joints do not have grease fittings...so I inject lubricant into mine (yearly) with a grease gun through a needle fitting.  Then, as long as the rubber boot is intact they will last.

I first replaced my upper BJs in the mid-1990s...and the replacements are still OK.

PS The Spitfire parts were the exact same as the OEM Lotus parts...Just looked: 9.00 GBP including VAT from Rimmer Brothers...

12 years can seem like a very short time when you remember the job like it was yesterday! I think they're off a Spitfire too btw if you have a good local factors.

Where did they use them on the plane? :stuart:

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

we ought to do a listing of the most replaced parts, 2 engines for me and 2 manifolds, apart from that not a lot, and now of course the ball joints.

Top ball joints now replace, 30 mins per side, good stuff. Steering responsiveness and tracking whilst on the road is now great, it does not follow the ruts in the road. Now I have an MOT it's ready for the summer.

its some time since I drove the car, wow does it fly, now I know why I have kept the car, spent load of money and agro, it bring a smile to your face.
