This thread was inspired by Ian when I saw his "school Esprit"

So show (or tell) the car you've driven in driving school. Did you liked it...or did you crashed it

I'll start:

The car I was learning to drive in driving school was a Mercedes Benz 190E

Not the Evo-one but this photo looked so nice

It was very nice car back then, remember I was driving before it my Datsun1000 (year before I got my license, although I drove always some small forest roads or so, not in public traffic).

So come on then, show us your driving school car, who's got the fastest

I learned to drive in a Citroen AX 10RE B) , with a massive 1.0 l under the bonnet, boosted by a hamster in each wheel hub! It was my mums, in midnight blue, cant find a picture of one in that colour.

The AX was highly aerodynamic with a Cx of only 0,31 which allowed the 1,0 litre model to achieve a fuel consumption figure of less than 4 litres/100 km (better than 70 mpg) at a constant 90 kph (56 mph).

The AX was launched in six versions - 10E, 10 RE, 11 RE, 11 TRE, 14 TRS and 14 TZS, and one body style - a three door hatchback.

An Austin Maxi 1750HL - twin Su carbs and 91hp. Oh, and all the seats would fold completely flat to create a large double bed...

Austin Maxi had the most massive leg room in the back of just about any car I can remember going in.

Learnt in a Vauxall Nova - looking back, got to be one of the worst cars invented. Particularly dull to drive.

However,.......... My brother and I turbocharged my Mom's Honda civic 1200. How we talked her into forking over about $1000.00 back then I'll never know. The kit was provided by Kas Kastner, W/ a Rajay turbo. That car was FUN!!

BTW, that was back in 1978!! I challenge all, to tell us your earliest foray into turbocharging. I'm wondering if you can beat our early endeavor!!

Datsun 180B SSS - I was soon a regualr at Halfords for body filler and spray paint, in fact by the time I sold the car there was more bondo than metal in it!

a 1992 subaru legacy and a 1990 dodge colt hatchback (mitsubishi) were the two cars i learned to drive in, but my first car was an 84 nissan 300zx... my second, third and fourth were porsche 924's...

My brother had one of those. He had a truck turn right in front of him and they collided. The truck ended up on its side and my brother's A40 was hardly marked

In the end tin worm got to it. So he bought aone with a good body but duff mechanicals and swapped everything over. Happy days. I don't think.

My Dad's 1977 Ford Cortina Mk4 Estate 1.6L.

It looked kind of like this without the spots. I drove it on a disused air field and it handled like a wheel barrow and was very slow.

Snap, kimbers. 'Cept mine was an aubergine 1300. Then, 1300 Mk2 Cortina, 1600 Capri, 3000GXL Capri, same capri with a rover engine (mumble mumble - various 'family cars' in here), Excel SE, Esprit S3, Elise S1. And I'm still learning how to drive

I got my RAF licence at 16 having learnt to drive one of these Land Rovers up and down a peri track when I was a gliding instructor. I drove ever weekend for a year on RAF property and when I was 17 passed my test first time after 2 lessons with BSM on the morning of my proper test!

I bought my first car when I was 15, before I could legally learn to drive.

It was a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. This photo is not the car, but it looked similar. Mine was black when I bought it, and I painted it a dark burgundy color.

It had a 6.6 liter Pontiac V8 with Holley 650cfm 4-bbl carb, Edelbrock Torquer manifold, Sig Erson hi-perf cam, Posi-Trac (ltd. slip) rear end, and traction bars. I don't know if the pistons were changed. It could do a 1/4 mile in around 14 seconds.

Thats a 2.0S. I know cause it has the steel wheel trims and black roof....and was my next car!

First car I ever drove was the old mans 1966 Daimler 250 V8 reg no. KBY 8D.

We had gone to Wales for a holiday, and when we were at the beach I was sent back to the car to fetch something that had been forgotten. Having the keys and knowing the old man was 1/4 of a mile away was too much temptation (for an 11 year old) so I started her up, put her in drive (automatic) and went for a spin around the parking lot! Luckily he never found out.

Dont have any pics of the old beast, but this one is the same colour (opalescent silver blue)

I actually really learned to drive and passed my test in was dads 1971 Ford Cortina 2000GXL (sebring red,black vinyl roof) which was two cars on from the Daimler. First solo drive in it I got into a burn up with a 3 litre Capri (and lost)

It looked like this one except it had the grille with 4 round headlamps in it.
