Because he did not lose by the wide margin everyone predicted he would lose by.  Yes, I know. Crazy. But hey, that's politics for you.....

Corbyn and his supporters will be celebrating because they lost well. They believe they had the moral high ground. The nice party v the nasty party. etc etc

At the end of the day May won. She did not win as many seats, but she won more than anyone else.  She superbly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.  Corbyn on the other hand never came close to victory. But as he wasn't bitten by the jaws, it was a win. Crazy. But hey, that's politics for you....

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Cos Corbin didn't get the good slap some of the Labour Party thought he would, still don't think Labour will get in until they have a popular leader our local labour mp John Mann needs to stand next time for the leaders job!

May shouldn't have believed all the Tory crap about how good the Torys thought they were, still if this was supposed to unite the country we will be getting another vote soon, just so we all know who the masters are?

Yes, I get all of that. I was just being pedanti:P  I don't subscribe to the "winning loser" theory, a loser is a loser, come 2nd and by definition you're not a winner

As you say "that's politics" but whilst the internal squabbling within the 2 parties continues we have no chance of anyone having credible leadership

Only massive plus point IMO was that Salmon lost his seat, having had the unfortunate experience of meeting the guy all I can say is "well deserved"

According to Corbyn Labour won and he's ready to serve the country. So that's a 2% lower vote share and nearly 60 fewer seats. In what universe is that a win?

Whilst I agree she has to go, let's not forget the very people who are now distancing themselves from her are those that were clamouring for an election earlier this year.

Scotland was a different story, Ruthy, giving Sturgeon a bloody nose. Result was better than anyone dared hope for. Seconded on Salmond, an odious man. I'll even forgive Labour winning in my constituency, routing the SNP.

At least the acronym will be along the same theme as the UK will get out of the brexit talks FA

unfortunately due to the very poor decisions made by the politicians over the last couple of years the UK is going to get well and truly f!?ked by Europe and the majority of the population will suffer with the possibility of the minority making a few more million

dont you just love politics and the tories?

Nope not really as politics in the UK and the west in general is regressive.

Don't love the Tories but preferred them to the never ending open ended promises of milk and honey and free stuff. They have totally screwed up here. I don't necessarily blame May, this is so typical of the infighting in the Tory party and I assume she has been battling with this since she moved into No.10.  The Tory Party is it's own real enemy. I am hugely disappointed in May. She has been shown to be weak when she needed to be strong. The Party has undone her the way they did Cameron in the end when he went for the damn referendum in the first place.

The UK is going to get fooked, in my opinion, because rather than getting behind the decision made, through a Democratic Public Vote, we have had a concerted effort to try to over turn, rather than get behind, the decision made. This, and only this, is what has seriously weakened and undermined our negotiating position in Brexit.

All she needed to do was to make the public get behind a strong negotiating position.

Getting sick of hearing about hard Brexit, soft Brexit. FFS, we actually hadn't even started negotiating and Corbyn, Sturgeon and everyone else was whinging and moaning and bitching.  To be honest it's been quite pathetic and the only loser is going to be the UK and her people.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

I am still convinced many 18 year olds have purely and solely heard the sentence "no more tuition fees" and put their X in a box not realising it will never happen - again a clever Labour vote winner.

I predict another Election within the next 12 months.

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk - that will teach us to keep mouth shut!

Add to that that they've never lived through a real Labour government ( not of Blair's type quasi-conservative type) and the consequences, either...

imo, socialism is great in principle, but seemingly not everyone wants to work as hard as me.

born equal, maybe, but nurture has a hell of a lot to answer for.

Tuition fees, bit of a non-issue in my opinion. They can go back to '90s levels without it making that big a difference to you or your taxes, unless you own a massive corporation and move money out of the country to avoid paying tax?

I was pretty impressed with the labour campaign this time, obviously they might not be able to deliver everything they hope to but at least it was a positive campaign, and the manifesto shows they have good intentions.  They've completely ditched the spin and bullshit of previous labour.  Compare that with May and the negative campaign of misery and spin, no-shows, no figures, no budgets.  Now teaming up with the DUP... really? Would you prefer Corbyn and his party who are possibly over promising on a few things like funding the NHS and Police more or schools and universities, or the Tories teaming up with the DUP.  THE DUP??!

Whatever you prefer we've seen that a positive campaign without loads of spin can yield good results if not yet a win at least a good comeback, and that lying, shit slinging newspapers are having less of an effect.  Whichever colour you prefer those are good things and bode well for future elections.

Lets just leave it a while before we have another one eh.

Exactly so why get so up in arms about Corbyn having to find all that cash, all that money tree nonsense, it really isn't an issue.

There's also a fairly large number of people between the poorer paid who would likely not have to pay too much back, and the rich folks you mention.

Like i said, it's a non-issue, the big issue at the moment is do you support a party that wants to team up with the DUP? ...not that we have a choice now :P

Lol. If it's no issue then why promise it and make a big thibg about it? Politicians spinning non issues for the benefit of the masses. Who'd have thought it.

I'd rather have the Tories and the DUP than the Labour Party with the SNP calling the tune. You really want that?

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

They didn't make a big thing out of it, they just had it in their manifesto as something that could be done and not that expensive as we've done it in the past. so stop droning on about it.

So you support the DUP? Have you looked them up and read what they stand for then?  And you're comfortable with your blue party teaming up with that?

Are you absolutely sure @C8RKH

The DUP doesn't mention same-sex marriage in its manifesto, but the party has repeatedly vetoed marriage equality for same-sex couples in Northern Ireland.

Its members have also made a string of homophobic comments, including branding LGBT people as “disgusting” and an “abomination”.

The party tabled a “petition of concern” following a vote to legalise same-sex marriage last May, meaning the proposal could only succeed if a sufficient number of both unionist and nationalist members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) backed it.

While 41 nationalists backed the proposal, it was approved by only four unionists, meaning it could not pass. (phew, but really? these people getting into bed with our government and all this brexit shit??)

In 2015, the party's health minister faced criticism when he said: “The facts show that you certainly don’t bring a child up in a homosexual relationship. That child is far more likely to be abused or neglected.”

The DUP doesn't mention abortion in its manifesto, but it has been open in its support for Northern Ireland’s abortion ban, which sees women imprisoned for having one and denied access to safe and legal terminations.

Ms Foster has said the party remains opposed to any reform of the province’s notoriously strict abortion laws, urging last year that she would “not want abortion to be as freely available here as it is in England“.

The party appointed a climate change denier as Northern Ireland environment minister, and a number of creationists are among its senior members.

DUP MP Sammy Wilson, who has previously served as Northern Ireland’s environment minister, has said people would eventually “look back at this whole climate change debate and ask ourselves how on Earth were we ever conned into spending the billions of pounds” on the issue.

Could be worse..... we could have the snp and labour.

but to be fair - I'm not sure any of them could cock the country up much more than it already is.

I can smell the politicians of all colours trying to weasel out of Brexit right now. They are disgusting and utterly disconnected. I'm glad salmond lost his seat and Clegg.

Right now - I'd gladly swap leaders with North Korea

this certainly looks like the makings of a new action packed film "gone south 2017"

Do you think women should be imprisoned for having an abortion @Barrykearley? I bet you don't cos you're a big kind softy, the DUP has supported an abortion ban which would mean women who have an abortion would be put in prison. That sort of shit needs to be chucked out the window right away, May needs to know that.

No mate I most certainly do not.

I like your thinking - it also means we chuck out the idea of normalisation of Muslim and Saudi opinions in the uk.

hala meat is also an utter disgrace - yet we Bitch about fox hunting....... a few foxes every now and again versus hundreds/thousands of chickens and sheep a day.......

Wholeheartedly agree, although i don't think many muslims support oppression of women, that's just a few extreme idiots, much like the extreme catholic or christian idiots committing violent crimes from time to time. The Saudis are in a world of their own and should be cut off and sanctioned!  And i've no beef if someone's voted Tory or Labour or whoever, i just can't get behind a government that wants to party up with the DUP.
