Lotus Exige Cup 380

It doesn't really matter. If a market wants more, looks like they'll get it and who can blame Lotus? 311 hasn't done very well but there seems to be a surprisingly big response for a £90k Exige.

First non-blue 380 Cup photo

The white Cup looks very 'plain' compared to the last cup cars. Maybe needs the stickers on the wing endplates and the sills.....

Video review but in Italian :)

Saw that review last night - Jesus the Italians are excitable:lol: Not a big fan of the Exige in white - don't think it works personally. Compared to Essex Blue it's just plain. I think it needs a Metallic colour to accentuate the lines. If I was given it as a gift however.......:)

So just wait a second, at the end of the video review the presenter says: "you cannot buy it, it is sold out already but Lotus is already working on a replacement for it, still a limited series, no idea on when it will be out but is is coming" ok the translation is very lose but that is the gist of it.

I Then took to the Jack Baruth piece in the R&T who said pretty much the same thing the car is sold out, but Lotus is working on a successor.

So let me get that right, they are going to trickle 80 cars of the very limited Exige Cup 380, then they will put on the market a successor for it... Which by the look of it may not be just a US track special - which already does exist, it is called Exige Race 380 -

Hum I will let the Exige Cup 380 owners tell me what they think about that. I know how I would feel about that. Silver lining well there should be something along the line of something getting pretty close to 390 bhp  at some point in the future, that is if the sale does not bring Group Lotus plc. operations to a complete halt like the sale to DRB-Hicom did 4 years back!

Quote

"We didn't have time," Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales laughs, "to come up with a USA price list. They were all gone before we could settle on a price. But this showed us how much interest there was, so we are already working on a successor for our American customers.

Maybe a stupid question but why is the wiper on the sport cup up? Is that how it is on the cup?

It's silly, motorsport silly, but still daft. OK I guess if it doesn't interfere with forward visibility. If it does it would be the first thing I would get changed.

Reading the not manual, it would fail an mot as it obscures forward visibility.

Not sure how lotus get round it????

No idea how it works either. If it does a full sweep of the windscreen how does it know how to get back to centre again? Might put the wiper there on my car and see how annoying it would be. Does look cool though, I'll give it that!

And if he had to get a Exige 410 CUP for 2018 ?

Very easy to do. The shaft on the motor just needs the arm repositioning to alter the park position. It will park where you have it set every time. (Did it on my old MK1 Golf race car many many years ago when I converted it to a single wiper arm to save weight)

Obviously it cannot be done by moving the wiper arm

I'd reset it back to the "normal" position.

What about cross winds?

Thanks, I thought it might be a worry. Still prefer it down. What about MOT time?

Nice, surely they need to change the badge though to 1/80?
