Correct - the Saab unit shares the same A/R housings but are fitted with different wheels. If you installed the Saab units, I would expect to see some loss of power.

Been chasing a stutter/misfire issue on my V8 - I have a suspicion it is cats/exhuast but thought I should check out ignition side first.

Replaced plugs - no difference

I removed the plenum (great fun) and I looked at HT leads/coils - nothing visibly obvious (although I will test the coils as far as I am able later).

ordered HT lead set - like an earlier post I couldn't find anything other than the Magnecor set - on their way from S J Sportscars as I write this.

I also looked at coils (BTW on the DeRoure website they are listed at £243.86 each eek!)

The existing ones are bosch  0 221 503 001 and I tried to order from onlinecarparts.co.uk (at £32.95 each)  but they just told me they are waiting on stock - could they send alternatives.  At first I though not but looking at the site they are listing the Delphi as a direct replacement so I have ordered them at £30.95 each

While I remember - Spark Plug Leads

I've seen previous comments about finding/making alternatives - surely it must be possible - £150 ish for a set of leeds seems way too much.

I just checked and when I replaced (only 6 of course) the plug leads/coil packs on my last car - Porsche 996 it only cost £135 and they are actualy 6 individual coils.

maybe just volume production/sales of course!!

Hi - the coils I got worked fine.  Fitted them along witha set of new (Magnacor) HT leads.

 

Didn't fix my stutter/holding back issue above 3,500 RPM though and I have found one of the catalytic convertors to be broken up which I think is restricting the exhaust (RH bank).  

In the middle of trying to fix that now (I will post details / seek advice on another part of the forum)

That really won't help if one is broken up.

take it off and smash it out. Cheap and easy to try - see if that gets rid of the Miss fire.

Does anyone have a cross reference for the oil cap on an Esprit V8? The ratcheting portion on mine broke trying to get it off one afternoon after a drive.

Waking up an old thread - these coils are hard to source in the US - the Bosch 0221503407 looks physically identical except the connector comes straight out vs 90 degrees as with the 0221503001.   Does anyone know if the connector orientation is essential?

Welcome to TLF Brad.

I would suggest that the only thing that might be a difference between 90deg and straight out, would be clearance to anything mounted in front of the coils and possibly the internal depth of the lead ends that attach to the coil. Straight ones may be a different internal depth to 90deg ones.

So I have noticed the Ignition Cylinder says GM on it but I have not found a replacement yet in here but this is a long topic. Has anyone found that out yet?
