  1. It’s when you have to stop in the rain that the problem starts. Putting the roof on is like trying to erect a tent in the pouring rain. I’m an ex Caterham owner and I didn’t learn because I subsequently bought a 2-11! I found the novelty of the Caterham soon wore off. It’s a very different driving experience to Elise/Exige and I just preferred the Elise as a drivers car - the fact it was also practical (compared to a 7) was just a bonus. The lack of safety never bothered me. I also ride a motorcycle so I’m used to feeling exposed. It forces you to pay extra attention to what’s happening around you.
  2. Oh dear. How long until we’re no longer the dominant species? Artificial intelligence, machine learning.....
  3. That came as a shock, I had no idea she had been ill. Terrible at only 51.
  4. Yes, he was a tank commander in WW2. I also grew up watching F1 and listening to Murray’s commentary. His enthusiasm and excitement was an integral part of the experience. RIP Murray. You’ll be much missed.

More F1 2021 now..... I really like the new livery on the Aston Martin and the Alpine looks pretty good to.
  6. Congratulations! That’s a great looking example with some really nice upgrades.
  7. Offer your services to the nhs. You tag everyone who has the vaccine, that way we’ll know and I’m sure much cheaper than some sort of “passport” scheme.
  8. You mean like a plastic tag stapled to their ear?
  9. Trying to call Aviva. On hold for 50 minutes so far. I gave up after 30 minutes this morning. I think my mobile will run out of battery before they pick the f*ing phone up.
  10. I think it very much depends on whether it starts at £60k or £120k and whether it’s one car or three. Given Lotus track record, I’ve no doubt it will look brilliant and drive properly 👍
  11. Lovely weather this afternoon, so I spent it weeding the garden. Actually, perhaps this should be in the unhappy thread....
  12. I just heard on the radio that Liverpool University are offering a degree course on the Beatles. Sounds like a great way to waste £27k.
  13. It was an issue for me, I wanted to move but was stuck. It also ruled out re-mortgaging or trying to find a more competitive mortgage unless you could afford to cover the deficit - I couldn’t.
  14. Yep I remember the 80’s. 16% mortgage interest rate and negative equity as house prices plummeted. Took me years to get back to positive equity. The value of the mortgage was three times my annual salary. Those were the days 😬
  15. Really sorry to read that. 80’s rallying was epic and he was one of the heroes.
  16. Does that mean he loses the moustache? *by using the term ‘he’ I realise I’m being sexist and part of the problem.
  17. I’ve owned two Evora’s in my time and the only other car I considered on both occasions was an AM Vantage. Simply because It’s an Aston and it’s beautiful.
  18. I think it would be a tough one to sell on. It’s a no from me.
  19. The point is, they tell you it has something that it doesn’t. If you know it doesn’t have it you can do something about it.
  20. One day I arrived home on my motorbike and my neighbour was in his garden with his six year old grand daughter (these were pre-Covid times) and the little girl was clearly fascinated by the bike. She looks up at me and asks “can girls ride motorbikes?” I said yes, of course girls can ride motorbikes, but you’re going to have to wait until you’re a bit older. “How old are you?” she asks. I said err, well how old are you? “six and a half” she says. I said well, I’m older than six and a half. She looks at me, sighs, and said “I know that, you’re an adult”
  21. In my case, paint protection film. They fitted it to all versions of the Elise apart from the 250 Cup, despite it being clearly listed in the 250 Cup spec in the Cup specific brochure. Without it, your paint work will be buggered up in under a thousand miles, so if anyone is ordering an Elise 250 Cup FE - worth checking!
  22. I know from personal experience that just because it says in the brochure that something is fitted, it doesn’t mean it is.

Can’t wait for their drone to start sending back some pictures. How come their drone can be controlled from over 35 million miles away and mine struggles at one mile?
