  2. Cheers, I'll have a go with the heavy duty velcro from Amazon and see how I get on. All the things on the car that are stuck on appear to need re-sticking at the moment!
  3. Could anyone confirm if this is the correct part number to get the velcro strip for sticking down the back seats? A124V0058V There aren't any pictures or real descriptions on the parts site that I could see. I could just try buying random velcro off Amazon but would prefer the proper stuff so I know it works...
  4. Yeah... Weird decision that. Young people won't vote for it and anyone with kids 18 and under won't vote for it. Might also turn off some grandparents.
  5. They just love sounds bites these days, it's become a group of marketing departments. A lot of the time decisions are made to try to placate the loudest shouter at the time and then everyone rolls out their current marketing slogan to 'debate' it. I do think that they need to be more honest more often. If the opposition actually thinks something is a good idea, say so. Not only when it's a super sensitive issue where opposing would be suicide but more of the time on normal issues. Stop spending time trying to dig up dirt to sling at the other side, it wastes everyone's time. Do try to have constructive discussions to come to a sensible outcome with all available expertise. Fine with rowdy debates in the house when it warrants it and have checks and balances with parties having different views, but stop just arguing for the visuals.

  9. I've had it three times, always caught at work. First time, pre-vaccine was nasty, knocked me out for two whole weeks could barely breathe rashes and all, was worried for a while Second time post 3 vaccines, much milder, got a fever and a cough but not too bad Just getting over my third time round now. Worked feeling awful with a fever on day 1, fever was raging on day 2 so took the day off, back at work day 3 but could barely talk and coughing my lungs out. Day 4 now, still feeling dodgy but on the way to recovery. It's very much dependant on person I think, I think the vaccines largely take it down a million notches rather than make you completely immune.
  10. An impromptu meet. I was parked up and an Emira pulled in. Had a quick chat and were on our way again. Quite a coincidence.
  11. I suspect you could probably spec down to the smaller wheels if you wanted. They do improve ride a bit. If you do get the certificate, you should definitely look at getting it with forum membership.
  12. Seems like it's a pup popular(ish) mod in the US for some reason, I've seen it a few times.
  13. I really don't understand insurance. Parking on a narrow road where cars are regularly taken out by lorries and stolen and commuting, costs less (by around 20%) on insurance than living in an affluent low crime area in a private road, parking in a locked garage, not commuting and using another car... Eh?
  14. I agree with Trev. It was always the word on the street that you couldn't easily get a 400 system on an S1. Would be great to know if it sounds like a 400 and if it's a sod to fit.
  15. Note, if you scroll down a few threads you will see a similar thread. It's not always your arb bushes. There are still a few cars where this has happened occasionally with no explanation. Just goes away again and seems to be something that causes no actual issue and it's undiagnosed to this point.
  16. Firstly, when I was a kid I loved Lotus Esprit turbo challenge and would discuss driving physics with my dad while playing it. My next encounter was the first Exige which I thought looked absolutely epic and a proper weapon (Exiges are great). Then, years ago, when I had an Alfa GTV (which I still love) I sat back to back in a TVR Cerbera and an Elise. The Elise felt perfect, then I went out in it and it was a hell of a lot more comfortable than I was expecting on the move as well. Finally when I wanted back into a sports car after a super barge, I wanted something that was relatively light, not too wide, fun to drive, naturally aspirated, manual, good on road trips and not as fast in a straight line as my old car which you could just never enjoy. I also wanted it to be fun in every situation and a bit quirky. I also missed the Alfa effects. Both the friendly wave (alas now lost to newer Alfas) and the fact that if something fell off you never felt bad, it was part of the charm. So I bought an Evora!
  17. I've seen one now, on the back of a transporter on the M4 (all the new Lotus can be spotted on that route quite early seemingly). Looks alright. A bit big looking, but alright.

  19. So, being in the position of looking at 'buying' a commuting car, I'm going to be using our company salary sacrifice scheme to 'buy' an electric car. Why? Well, it's cheap. The cost of the salary sacrifice scheme is around the same as buying and running a second hand car (if you include the savings on fuel that electric brings) and I get a new car that does what it needs to do to run back and forth to work. I would *definitely* not buy an electric car outright at the moment. Not a chance. I think this is probably the average tale of an electric car 'buyer' at the moment. Therefore the price actually doesn't matter much. The monthly costs on cars is pretty random and some cars with high RRP are actually pretty cheap monthly on salary sacrifice opposed to some of the supposed cheaper cars. I suspect this has to do with residuals. I therefore believe that the success or otherwise of any electric car is going to be based on how much they are in similar schemes. The headline value is of little interest to me.
  20. I'm surprised that these last so long on the Evora. They were terrible trouble on the Jag I had. Constantly failing to open, I got quite skilled at levering it open at the fuel pump

  23. These are interesting, but the problem with laptime charts is that tyre tech makes a huge difference. This means that some of these cars being tested several years apart and on completely different tyres are completely incomparable.
  24. It's not hard to get another fob if one isn't working though it's a bit of a pain to reprogram. The alarm and immobiliser seem to be reliable. Belts will need changing obviously, but not the biggest job in the world, the chains almost certainly need checking around 100k miles as per every other car with cam chains. Paint blistering often appears under the boot/engine hatch. Can obviously be fixed if necessary. AC should still work even when it's cold. It's blooming freezing if you use it to defrost your window in the winter.
  25. SWLotus have found the problem. A piece of rust in the ABS ring. A very quick fix but not the quickest thing to find. Worth putting on the checklist if you have a similar issue.
