  1. There's a guide on LEW here My link Never done it so can't vouch for the accuracy. I've got a different .pdf guide I downloaded from somewhere as well, pm me your e-mail address Roger & I'll send it to you.
  2. I keep my chamois in the bonnet now rather than the boot, which kinda solves the washing problem, but not the raining problem!
  3. I think cost would depend on timing. Doing it during school holidays will increase the cost, but would be a shame for those involved in education to miss out if they want to go. Doing it during school time means some miss out, but probably more flexibiliy/availability with crossings/hotels. Depending on preferences. B&B at half decent hotels for 10 nights could be £650 - £1,000 Lunch x 10 £50 - £100 Dinner x 10 £200 - £400 2000 miles @ 30mpg is about £300 Total £1200 - £1700. Plus crossing + drink + cost for visting places along the way. I'd say Bibs had a pretty good estimate in the first place. Don't think I could make it this year, but if next year.......
  4. Whenever it rains or I've washed the car, I always seem to need to get into the boot. Water collects on the tailgate & as soon as I open the tailgate all the water rushes towards the big hole in the middle and splashes all over the engine/cover/grill/boot. I'd have thought a small lip around the rear & sides of the hole would redirect the water(so it sits by the glass partition) whilst the tailgate is opening. The water could then flow out/evaporate once the tailgate is closed. Does't anybody else have this problem? Has anyone tried to make a lip, as above, or come up with a better solution. Usually cars are tested to make sure water doesn't leak in by manufacturers. You'd have thought someone would have opened the tailgate with water on it at some point & realised it was a problem. Can't see anything in the parts manual that should be there & I'm missing!

    Fun

Surfing (5 boards of varying lengths but my back's not as good as it was & the water seems colder than it used to be!). Archery (not for while, but won some medals, probably most proud of overall Gold at the Jersey Triple, 100 + from all over Europe competed). Fencing (competed in 3 Commonwealth championships at all three weapons). Badminton(crap really, but good fun). Hike/Walking (always nicer when the weathers good. Can't go far in Jersey though!) Cycling (old peugeot racer, was expensive at the time, wieghs at lot compared to the carbon models these days, but I like it). Motorcycling (FZR600 x 3 & an R6). Driving (Esprit of course) Wargaming (Dark Elves & Eldar, although I shouldn't think anyone knows what they are!) DIY. Fiddling with cars/bikes/engines. RC cars/gliders/helicopters. Pulling things apart to see how they work, then not being able to put them back together again (got to be my favorite!!).
  6. I changed the master & slave, so the system was completely drained. I can't have used more than about 1/4 litre in total to refill & bleed. is that 250ml?
  7. I'm looking to replace some of the fuel hoses, such as the one in the photo below. From what I can see/tell, it looks as though the bore of these hoses is 8mm. Can anyone confirm or correct? Are the fuel hoses the same bore all the way from carb/filter/pump/tanks? Thanks
  8. Silver looks classier with that body colour. Stealth gives it the "racer" on the road look, but doesn't suit the body colour. IMHO.
  9. She'd been out for a meal with friends, I'd been out to see some mates. As I was driving home, she was just pulling up to exit a car park as I drove past. One of her friends said "wow, look at that Lotus". "That's my Dad" she was proudly able to say!
  10. Like Mark I use the "view new topics" button, but if it were possible toinclude which section the query is under (in the forum column, or add a new column), then it would solve the "S2" problem. You'd be able to see straight away it was from the Elise section rather than the Esprit section. I've done the same on a number of occasions, thinking the topic would refer to later models only to find it was for one of the G cars.
  11. What the insurers are saying, is that the price you pay should be related to the amount they are likely to pay out for a claim. If statisticaly they pay out less for women than men, why should women pay the same as men. I'm not defending women or insurers, either! I think too many insurers these days stick a pin on number for either comercial (advertising) reasons, or because they don't really know what they're doing!!
  12. If the woman "is more likely to keep a safe record", why shouldn't she pay less?
  13. It's underwriters vs legislation. As said above if you are a lower risk, based on statistical data, you should pay less. Legislation was passed so you can't differentiate between people of different ages, but insurers can show that different age bands have different clims experience. The same principle should apply for gender, as long as insurers have evidence to back up their decisions, they should be able to charge different amounts.
  14. Had a similar problem with mine. I changed the slave which did no good, but when I was bleeding that I noticed air bubbles in the master. Changed the master - now good as new. The R clip & pin in the clutch pedal are a pain to get in & out!
  15. Great posiive news, after a wait that must have seemed lke an age.
  16. The aircraft may have been around for a while, but the picture was taken last night. Not like you to get your facts wrong Antony!
  17. Bernie Ecclestone was here last year for a similar reason.
  18. Real shame. I wouldn't rate him as the best driver out there, but I do think he's done a fantastic job wih underperformimg cars in the past. Would have been great for 2011 if he was able to duplicate results from Valencia testing. Hope he's not injured too badly so that he can't get back to being competetive soon.
  19. Well it's fitted, bled & working. All I need to do now is adjust it - Thanks for the notes Dave, & everyone's help. Neill
  20. Different circlips, but pushrods swapped over now. Off to try & refit. Don't have any servce notes - what do they say about adjustment?
  21. BIbs very kindly supplied me with new master cylinder - unfortunately, still no joy. As you can see from the photo the pushrod on the new one (top) is about 1 1/2 inches shorter than the one I had fitted (bottom) Even with the the clevis right at the end of the pushrod (as shown), and the clutch pedal flat against the floor, I can't get the clevis pin in. Did they make the master's with different length pushrods? Do they make different length clevis's? Can I swap the pushrods over? or get a longer clevis made? Any other suggestions?
  22. I'd have thought it would need to be wired. I'm sure it would be flexible enough to cope with movement between the airbox & the turbo, but would it be rigid enough, without being wired, to stop it collapsing when the turbo's demanding such an influx of air under hard acceleration?
