  1. Feast your eyes on the £20k 'Type 136' Lotus
  2. Today's Times: Mondeo man has last laugh as value of 20-year-old cars soars Auto Trader said the Noughties revival challenges the common misconception that a car can only ever lose value once it is driven out of the showroom Ford Mondeos were seen as the car of choice for boring people but a trend for nostalgia has prompted a rise in demand Mondeo man used to be mocked as boring and uninspired. A middle-of-the-road “Mr Average” who probably voted Tory but did not mind Tony Blair and almost certainly owned a labrador. However, anyone who has remained loyal and true to Ford’s mid-Noughties family saloon is now having the last laugh because it is rocketing in value. Along with other unexceptional cars of this era, such as the Vauxhall Astra and Renault Megane, Mondeos are undergoing a revival in demand amid a growing trend for nostalgia among drivers. Research published by Auto Trader shows that the average value of a 2004 Ford Mondeo has increased nearly 50 per cent since before the pandemic. In 2019, the average Mondeo listed on the car-selling website sold for only £1,544 whereas this year they fetched an average of £2,298. Other mid-Noughties classics have had even greater price increases.
  3. Different to the four cylinder engines then where the liners always stood proud of the block in order to ensure head gasket sealing.
  4. Anyone know which year did Lotus stop using 6 volt coils? Silly not to as they're so cheap.
  5. There wasn't a factory immobiliser on my UK car, I had to have one fitted before they'd insure it.
  6. Beautiful looking car, I used to own number 4 of 40 in pearl white just like it here in the UK. To add to Filip's suggestions to look at is does it have an immobiliser that's acting up? Definitely sounds like an ignition problem though. Good luck & welcome to the world of Lotus motoring.
  7. The answer to this question is to place shims between the driveshaft adapter & the UJ housing.
  8. Missing under load is normally caused by a breakdown in the high tension ignition system when it's harder for the spark to jump the plug gap because of the increased compression & it leaks to earth so I'd tend to agree with Rambo.
  9. I actually meant Steve of SJSportscars but I'm sure the guys at PNM would be just as knowledgeable. They're both the same
  10. Yes to your question on radius arm mounting & here's the lower link bush I'd also give Steve a call when you order them & the shims & ask about the brake disk & calliper spacing, he's very knowledgeable.
  11. Whatever turns you on, I must get around to removing it from my profile as I gave up on it a few years ago now
  12. The excessive camber is caused by wear to the differential crownwheel & pinion which can be corrected by adding shims behind the CV joint.
  13. Nine million Nice to know our licence fees are well spent making programs we all want to watch.
  14. Freddie Flintoff agrees compensation over Top Gear crash
  15. Wikipedia states the engine was used in the Renault 16 so I'd suggest you ask on that forum.
  16. Today's Times reports The BBC has decided to end Top Gear after deciding the motoring show could not continue following the near fatal crash involving Andrew Flintoff, one of the presenters, according to reports. The former England cricket captain suffered facial injuries and broken ribs at the programme’s test track at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey on December 13. He was driving a Morgan Super 3, a roofless, three-wheeled vehicle capable of reaching 130mph, when it flipped over and slid along the track. The vehicle had no air bags. Filming for the show was halted and the broadcaster publicly apologised to Flintoff. Production staff have now been told to focus on other work, The Sun reported.
  17. I'd start by asking on one of the Renault 14 forums https://forums.finalgear.com/threads/renault-14.50653/
  18. I remember doing that by hand power only, not fun.
  19. What It's Like To Drive A Manual Lotus Emira
  20. Does look in exceptionally good condition, even the red paint on the engine looks perfect. God, I loved that car, it was my first turbo & I adored the snorting horse sound of the turbo waste gate when I changed gear & was quite disappointed when the S4s I replaced it with didn't sound as good.
