Yes, it IS a long time since you let me have the dash vents! Congrats on getting your car up and running. I know you have had your ups and downs with it but hopefully you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it now. Especially going into the summer. Ive been driving my Eclat around at the moment and still get lots of admiring glances and comments.

Happy Motoring.  :driving:

Well that didn’t last long. After a wet Friday the engine would not fire up at all.  Just turning over.  So Saturday I warmed the distributor with hair dryer, it started no problem.  I did the same this morning ( no rain) again warm air blown towards dizzy, again started.
Does the dizzy need an electric blanket over night 😂

Plus today the speedo failed 🥴AND also while trimming the screen pillar near side , door open , my crazy Border Collie came racing round the corner and crashed into the door.
The door now opens 90 degrees , somehow his damaged to steel door check.
Nightmare of a day.

did you try to start it before warming? Could that have been inconsequential?

Hope the dog is OK? :)

My plan - although it will be one of the last things I do - is to have a small, discrete display between the speedo and tacho - probably driven by a Raspberry Pi - allowing all warnings/information to be displayed there.  I've got a list of 23 items that I'd like to display so far!

The other thing I don't like about the dash is the off-centre location - that will have to change.

A proper outing for the Elite today.  Not a 5 mile local trip to the workshop and back home , but driving through Norfolk , Suffolk and just into Cambridgeshire.

A 35 mile drive, to get the carbs balanced and engine timing sorted.
The journey out wasn’t great as the engine revs didn’t drop much when changing gear , but we got to the tuners .
After a bit of a wait, it was my turn , carbs balanced and timing altered.
Engine ticking over perfectly .

Return journey was easy , even with traffic queues for town and trains.

Some better brakes would be good.
Got to see if I can move the seat another step forward, as clutch leg is at maximum travel ( I’m missing a calf muscle ) , but arms to steering wheel are fine in existing position   , may have to put wood block on clutch and brake pedals  😂

Hi everyone, need help again.
The ash trays that are fitted in both doors, I have the backing plates that are screwed to door trim , but haven’t got the trays themselves.
I have trays that don’t match the back plates.
Taken a photo.

Hi Angus , the chap that set up the carbs works in Essex , but he does remapping at a race car workshop in Fordham just the other side of Mildenhall.
He is total genius , balancing the carbs.  Completely different journey on the way home.
Still working on the brake system, drilled the rear drums so I can adjust the rear shoes with screwdriver.  Still need  more stopping power , having to brake in well in advance.
How’s yours on the brakes ?

Well a couple more jobs done.
Managed to fined the trim panel that covers the join between front screen and roof.
Covered it to match roof lining, luck would have it I had a piece left that was just long enough.
Also tracked down the aluminium trim that goes in the boot above the tank to internal glass.
Same time made some panels and trimmed the boot and battery cover.

Sounds like a previous owner has messed with it.  It's tempting when the car needs towing to pull it using the anti roll bar and this often causes the brackets to deform, so a non-standard version may have been substituted.

Thanks Pete you could be right there.  Will sort it out , have new poly bushes to fit.
Now most major mechanical jobs are complete ( for a few months) , have just been making good a few things.
Came across this with the bonnet sound proofing and the camshaft gear wheel. IMG_1375.jpeg.5ae29699ccd4ed35c1fb15de830dc124.jpeg

I’ve driven the Elite less than 300 miles so far , engine and everything ok.
Except for the brakes.  The rears are fine , the fronts , I was hoping that they would quickly improve.  They haven’t.
So seeing what options there is to improve them ,

1. New discs and have callipers refurbished.  But that would be around 8 weeks for the refurb.
2.  Get refurb kit and do it myself.  Well if bores are pitted or oval , brakes still going to be lacking.
3 Buy complete new set up from PNM with four pot callipers. All new in one hit.
Well I went for …..
