Fuel Filler Bowl Replacement

Looks like the solenoid is dead. Fuses ok but it won't open. 

Has anyone done this? Any hints/tips? Looks like it's in through the wheel arch once the liner is removed and unclip/replace.

In order to remove the filler bowl, the flap has to be opened (so you can unscrew the filler cap). If the solenoid is bad, there's a small hole on the side of the bowl where you can manually press in the pawl that holds the flap down.

I am in the States & just went through this on my 400.

You should be able to put a pin through the emergency hole in the filler after taking the wheel well liner off per the procedure that someone already gave you... but I couldn't push the pin hard enough to move it & release the flap. So plan B it was....

You will need to open or remove the painted fuel filler flap, if it will not release lift the back edge & then push rearwards on the front edge... it should slide 10-15mm & then release outwards.

Once in there, see if you can tap on the release pin with a punch & hammer to free the mechanism. I actually removed the whole fuel filler assembly from the car, released the solenoid from the assembly & whacked the pin with a hammer & now it's working fine. If I had known before removing the assembly I could have whacked the pin in the car... Not sure what caused the pin/solenoid to cease up but I applied Vaseline to the moving parts & operate the solenoid every time I take the car out now!

By the way, if you do need to replace the assembly it is Jaguar C2P5414, a lot cheaper on eBay etc. than buying from Lotus.

I'm surprised that these last so long on the Evora. They were terrible trouble on the Jag I had. Constantly failing to open, I got quite skilled at levering it open at the fuel pump
