Elise rover starting issue

Recommended Posts

Took my Elise rover s2 out of the garage started no issues first time, I haven’t drove it a while so the brakes were semi stuck on but other than that it pulled out of the garage no issues. Switched it off and went to sort some stuff out in the garage before going out, then going back into the car to drive it off it now won’t start at all. All lights etc come on and wipers but turn the key and nothing not even a click. Took battery off and charged it up and measuring 12.9v but still nothing. Checked fuses and seem ok but after that it comes up with red oil light, engine management light and battery light. Any ideas what to check first?

The oil pressure and battery charge warning lights will be on as long as the engine isn't running, so that's normal. The check engine light is similar.

Have you checked the starter? Are all wires still properly attached? It's not unheard of for the smaller spade connector to work lose. Also check the big power cable and the earth to the engine. If all wiring is fine, try bridging the starter relay. If that works, the problem is probably in the ignition switch or relay.

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.
