well we took hope to kingsmill hospital yesterday to see the plastic surgeon, a quick poke of the growth on her face and blood was pouring out so much that the nurse went and got another nurse to stem the flow. the consultant went into his office and we could hear him on the phone saying that he had a 13 year old that has to have an urgent operation,

upshot this growth is likley cancerious and i have to take her to nottingham city hospital on the 22nd for a helth check up and then then will operate on the morning of the 23rd there will be scaring but until they have removed it and seen what and where it goes they could not say as to how much or estimate the damage, no biopsy as they will be doing that once its off, it has its own blood supply like i told these people several weeks ago so i'm now pretty worried. as this growth is now getting bigger about 1/2 the size of a thumb.

fair play to the consultant who has reacted quickly and the city hospital who phoned us with the appointment times within a couple of mins.

The bigger it get's the worse the scare on her face is going to be, so why didn't they estimate that? With its own blood supply how big do you think it will get by the 23rd. Can they not cut it and let some of it drain in a dressing? Or even stop the blood flow by freezing it? I hope everything goes well and its all sorted very soon for everyone.

Peter, All the best wishes for your daughter. My wife recently had 2 basal cell carcinoma's removed off her shoulders (largest was smaller than a pea.)

Prognosis is very good, but she'll have to keep a watch out (skin cancer runs in her family with both her mom and dad having facial growths removed maybe 5 or more years ago and nothing since). The healing is very good where they removed them and is hardly noticeable at all, several weeks on.

I kept prodding her to go have things checked out when I noticed them , and she kept waving it off as just moles, etc while complaining that they itched, but now she is ever vigilant. Her initial appointment to the referred dermatologist took 2-3 weeks to get in, but follow-up for surgery was quick. (in the US you can usually get squeezed in the same day to your primary care physician, but not the specialists, like dermatologists, who are far fewer in number).

Peter,

Like anyone that has children, never a nice thing to go through. All the best and hope it all works out.
