An originator for sure, I adored his work on Alien, he was beyond being an integral part of the story telling.

As for wherever he might be, I can't imagine that he's gone 'up top', more likely he's frightening them 'down below'.

This is a real shame. I really got into Giger after Alien. Bought his Necronomicon large format art book - the wife refused to have it anywhere in plain sight. Its been in the loft for years. Might bring it down and get it valued...

I wouldn't have thought the aliens required spacesuits as the one that was after Ripley seemed to be able to exist in just about any environment?

It was for the giant white faced angry blokes in their escape ships.

 

The cool skull/proboscis type thingy was a helmet and the "body" was the spacesuit which covered their completely humanoid form.

 

Shit film. More holes than Swiss cheese.

Indeed. In fact, in Giger's original picture above, you can see that the cool engineer has some kind of helmet around it anyway. 

So these white heads now need 2?

 

Seems that Ridley Scott just ignored what people wanted to see/were intrigued by following the discovery in the derelict.

 

Shame. No way to retrieve it now other that to offer a totally different interpretation by remaking the prequel. An option. Never been done before as far as I know....
