exhaust stud securing - what?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am going to take off my recent new original exhaust manifold, and replace it with the Alunox one. In which case I would like to ask, if any securing of new exhaust studs into the cylinderhead is needed, as in for example a Locktite? And if so, which one?

Most appreciated,

Jacques.

Is it absolutely needed, or is it a "just to be sure"?

Think I bought some special nuts with the Alunox manifold.

Oh, the thread sealer is needed, all right. Once removed, those studs tend to fall out/loosen if not properly secured.

You were wise to buy new retaining nuts, also.  Hopefully, the "special" thing about them is that they are copper, and take a 12mm rather than 13mm wrench, making them less tedious to install. These nuts are available from Lotus parts suppliers, and have a VW application.

Charge cooled esprits are showing as a different manifold.

I'm sure mine has a charge cooled manifold on it - but mines a bit strange !!

Ps -if you upgrade to ffm - you get access to these lovely parts lists ?

Hello Roy, thanks for the offer, but it's a nearly new original manifold, and I keep it for future use, is the new one is too extreme or cannot pass inspection, which is über tight here where I live.

Kind regards,

Jacques.
