My MY11 Evora S; the next chapter(s).

I'd be more interested to hear the car being driven away under load, I have tried to find some good exhaust videos but you tube is full of pointless revving the nuts off it videos.

Cars always sound far better under load yet very few people actually seem to video it for some reason.

Probably because it involves either having someone to film for you, or leaving a camera by the side of the road :)

Very, very few videos online really convey the sound of certain cars. The 400 in particular sounds way more vicious than some of the online videos.

The next stage. Replaced L with R:

I was going to wait until the car went to Motorsports for it's service next week but it turned out to be a pretty straight forward DIY job. I've not taken the car out yet so I can't report back on any improvements.

However, when I had the air filter lid out, I noticed that there is a secondary filter of some sort attached to the lid:

IMG_5154_zpsrgwlopfh.jpg

There doesn't seem to be an obvious way to remove (or change) it because the fittings/plastic rivets around the edge have been melted to secure it. However, to my layman eyes, it looks like it will still be very restrictive to the airflow. Has anybody (who has fitted a K&N panel filter) been brave enough to remove this second filter? (I've tried a google search but it doesn't seem to throw up any relevant links. If you've got a link to somebody who has tried it, please share it here).

I fitted same k&n to mine last week.

dealer wanted £57+vat to fit it, on top of service price!

didnt notice the extra filter though, so can't comment.

Yeh, mine was £38 too...

It was the £68 fitting charge that really got me! So hence I fitted it myself, like you in just a few minutes. Especially when they are already charging for a service.

To be honest that fitting cost whilst doing a service anyway is just one great big mickey take and I'd have thrown a tantrum on the showroom floor that any self respecting three year old would have been proud of. I'd then inform the dealer that hell would freeze over before they got to see my car again if that was their attitude, and take all my future business elsewhere.

I'm a drama queen - I know, I know, but then when you wear red suede Puma Speedkats..........

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

You'd think these dealers have to pay for buildings, rates, staff, insurances, marketing, specialist equipment and all sorts for the amount they charge!

I get what you're saying @Bibs

But £68 to fit an air filter? When I'm already paying over £400 for a service? (Down from £647 first quoted)
It galls a little, that's for sure.

Or perhaps they were just "at it"!

I have no problem paying a fair price for a fair job at all and recognise that dealers are there to make a profit, they are not charities.

But given as part of the service they need to access the filter anyway (or should) this additional charge was just outrageous in my humble opinion - the tantrum is still ongoing and my legs are in the air still!

The best dealers make a profit surely because they look after customers, who return time and time again, because they feel they get good service and value. Not Ripped OFF!

I have found with dealers - including main dealers for premium German marques - are willing to negotiate, but it tends to be before they get the car. With older cars particularly.

If I become a member of the Lotus family I am going to be on the hunt for a local and reliable Lotus dealer, for servicing. Got a bit of choice it seems.

0.4 hours to change an air filter apparently.

I am in Chelmsford fella.

We'll have to meet up when I am "with Lotus". @GM77 and co have already been offered by a local pub landlord to have a Lotus meet at his pub near Colchester
