What outdoor covers are you using and how good are they? Stormforce?

Ive just bought an Elise S2, it will be sat on the drive through winter and id like to cover it but Im concerned about damage to the paint. What covers have people used and how have you rated them? The stormforce looks decent but i dont want to spend the money without hearing from people who have used them. Thanks

But they are still more than £100 more than I can get Stormforce ones for, and they look pretty good, and fitted to car. I am in the same boat, and unless there is a very good reason, cannot really justify the extra. ???

Have you really no other option than storing it outside - possibly pay for storage? I stored our Elise outside with a top quality car cover and ended up with the dreaded microblisters all over the front clam and I'm not alone in the experience.

damnnn thats bad news, what cover was it? Im thinking of getting it covered in ventureshield anyway that should protect it from the covers i suppose. Yes unfortunately its just not feasible to store it away from my home. The thing is my dad has the earlier s2 and just sticks a cheap £30 cover over his and says his is fine he thinks im mad for wanting to spend 100's on a cover, Ive not been able to actually take a look at it myself though so it might have minor marks that he doesnt really notice...

I had the monsoon force cover for my previous 6 series, the quality was excellent. Heavyweight breathable waterproof outer, soft fleece lined inner, no problems with the paintwork. BUT, although these covers are described as fitted, I don't think they are,  they fit reasonably well but are possibly made to fit a range of vehicles of the same of similar size. Whereas the Lotus cover l have now fits like a glove.

I fully understand your Dads comments. I cant remember what cover was on the Elise, but I had a fleece lined heavy duty tailored cover on my Esprit and the car remained wet for ages after it rained. Whereas I put a £9.99 nylon cover on my MR2 which flapped about in the breeze and the car dried out much quicker.

The big concern about microblisters is damp from underneath rather than via the paintwork which neither Ventureshield nor a cover can protect you from. It really is a lottery dependant on what weather you get whilst you are storing it.

How reachable is Sheffield for you - is it worth considering bringing your car up here on a dry day and storing it with mine?

Welcome to TLF. :welcome:

You should duck over to the Introductions area and say hi in there as well. :)

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

While clearly bias, I use our own ourdoor covers. £50 cheaper than the RRP, I've not been dissatisfied with them on my Elises :)

Love my outside cover specially made to my spec. After 2 weeks of no use I will unwrap her in a minute as I am using it over the weekend.

Just a question. Does anyone else wipe off the cover before unwrapping? I have noticed a large amount of sandy dust on the cover and if I unwrap it now that will go all over the car. WHich was put away clean.
