Lotus cars are easy to work on

Recommended Posts

A favourite of mine was changing the RH headlamp bulb on my MGZT. Ideally, you need hydraulic fingers about a foot long, with an eye on the end of each one to achieve satisfaction.

LH side takes about a minute, RH side takes up to an hour. And guess which one was always blowing.

Margate Exotics.

Agree on the Landy front having rechassis'd 2 series 3's (not the same one twice!). I was researching a P38 Rangy for a fun run about and came across your familiar ID on another Landy forum. Does that make us traitors ?

I'd say that makes us brothers in arms. :band:

The P38 is a good choice, I'm getting ready to build one again myself to replace the one lost in the fire. They can be found at very reasonable prices and not too hard to put right. You just need someone with a bit of experience to guide you. Feel free to pick my brain, happy to help.

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

I'm about to remind myself how easy these Vauxhalls are to work on, by doing a timing belt.

Yes, I'm going to have to remove a wheel and cover panels but I'm not going have restrictions on access am I? Oh yes, half from wheel arch, half from engine bay quite close to the inner wing.

The sooner I get back to working on the Esprit the better.

I will soon be starting a clutch replacement on an Astra J.  It's a ludicrous job.

Clutch job commences.  Or it could be a headlamp bulb.

I realised last night that i need specialist locking devices to do the cambelt, so now ordered(not paying £60 that GSF want for the tools). Gone are the old days of suitably sized drill bits being inserted in holes.

To get at an Astra clutch - front subframe including steering rack and lower suspension.  FFS.  An Esprit would be back on the road by now (unless it was Bazza's).
