Parked up on my local high street to nip to tesco and a tidy looking lady asks for a 'lotus selfie'! So intake a picture of her in the car, she then asks for one of us both in front of the car. Of course I oblige, she then says thank you many many times and walks off seemingly very happy. I have had no negative reactions so far.... None. Bloody love this car.

Driving home from last week's rally, a bit peeved off for a few reasons. Followed a guy in an Audi (A4 or A6, black nondescript saloon thing). He was doing the same kind of motorway speed as me for ages, then mysteriously pulls into inside lane and starts doing 65. In case he was a traffic cop, I go past slowly and look into the car. Young lad there with iPad out, filming the car. So I give him thumbs up and drop into third for a flyby. Then slow down, they pass me again, we repeat a few times. I followed them going through a tunnel, of course had to oblige, got a nice thumbs up from Dad. Coming up to a layby, I signalled them over, said to Dad if he likes it that much he can have a sit in it. Both Dad and son quite happy, made my day too!

Today I've had:
"Lovely noise, you've made my day" from a white van man.
Thumbs up from a Megane R26 owner
Guy stopped whilst crossing the road in central Edinburgh to take a photo with his camera.
LOTS of waves and smiles.

I love the Evora, the reaction is the same whether it's a 400 or an NA, it's a very under rated car.

On scary single track roads, despite me keeping at least 100m behind them, pulling over to let me go by.

Don't they know I am using them to 'find' the 4x4s coming the other way?

@Gravel@Gravel I assume you are referring to the 4x4's in the middle of the lane, who then refuse to go near the grass verge in case their sidewalls come into contact with, erm, oh yeah, dirt?

To be fair the choice was between a rockface and a sheer drop but if you're in an off roader...

Stopped at a garage near the Nurburgring and was with my mate in his modified 997.1 that looks pretty nice compared to stock. Paying for petrol and the lady behind the till says the Evora is beautiful. I kindly reply with 'thank you' and she then clarifies she was speaking about the car.... Making sure i knew she wasn't speaking abou me.... Lol!

So on Sunday evening I came back from the Fast Car Show at Donington and took it to a local "static" meet. That's a somewhat informal gathering rather than a car show. Majority of cars there being Japanese, highly modified, you get the idea. I wasn't entirely sure how well received a bloke turning up in a flash yellow sports car would be amongst a crowd with 300ZXs, Subarus and the like. As it turns out, they absolutely loved it. In particular they were very approving of the noises the exhaust makes. All of them really interested in it, quite a few knew their Lotuses too.

Then today, grabbing some supplies from the local farm shop, had a few kids ask if they can take photos etc... of which I am more than happy to oblige, this car really does bring a smile to my face in ways no other car ever has. A shame it frustrates in equal measure sometimes. Always nice to be reminded why we persevere though!

Hopefully the Mrs will never see this, and I didn't think this kind of thing really happened, but was filling up with petrol on sunday when a girl probably in her mid twenties started chatting to me and asked if I wanted her number. I mean, obviously all young women are mad for bald men with scruffy beards in their forties, who look like they've just been dragged out of a skip, right? In no way at all was she just blinded by the expensive, freshly washed and shiny sports car. No sir, no way, it was just my raw sexual magnetism. Or not as the case may be.

For a shape which is six years old at least, I'm genuinely surprised how much more attention this unmolested S1 Evora gets than my old MSG S3 Elise with its full 2bular exhaust popping and gurgling. Every day I've driven it so far I've seen camera phones snapping photos and/or heard cries of "Oooh! A Lotus!".

Cant say I mind at all as it's exactly how I feel when I see any Lotus drive past ?

I have had mine for 1 week - every time I have parked up or filled up someone has admired the car, even if they do get it wrong as one thought it was a McLaren and another a Ferrari! Before buying we looked at Porsche, and after reading a lot of the comparison roadtests the Cayman always seemed to end up just pipping the Evora, mostly on build quality/longevity. Not a single person would have passed comment if I had bought one of those! There is so much more to car buying than figures alone, its a heart thing.

I think it's part of the Lotus mindset, it genuinely makes my day to see another while out and about. Porsches are pretty bland in comparison, would anyone really get excited about seeing a Boxster or Cayman? I very much doubt it. I would say the only other marque sub supercar that I love to see would be TVR, maybe I just love an underdog too much.

Totally agree, I have transitioned to Lotus from TVR so am used to those foibles that make this type of car unique - unfortunately TVR still have some big issues as I looked at Tuscans etc and basically if you havn't had an engine rebuild by 30k miles then you need one!

So, I went to the show at Helmingham Hall on Sunday. I went with the Pistonheads group as despite what I think of the main site, I really enjoy the local bunch - great people.

We met at a local pub car park. A guy turned up with his Carrera GT, absolutely stunning piece of kit - a dream car of mine. Guards Red too, a nice contrast to the usual silver. I asked if I could have a sit in it, he obliged.

The family who owned the pub came out to look at the cars. With them, they had their young (6/7 yo) son. He came up to me, while I was standing next to the Carrera GT and said "excuse me, can I sit in your car?"

I said, "Well, that depends which car you think is mine!" assuming he thought I was the owner of the Porsche. He pointed to my Evora and said "That yellow one!"

I was quite overjoyed that even in the presence of an Automotive legend, small boy still went for the Evora!

Met Mrs mik for lunch in the pretty-posh Merchant City area of Glasgow. 

As I parked and got out some  bloke shouted "Tadger!" From the window of his flat. Can't win em all.

 there was a white Evora spotted on Duke Street yesterday lunchtime by Dom on SE, maybe it was you...

Not a member of Scottish Elises so can't confirm...
