Or if its at a Lotus dealer get them to get the history foc. You won't get a cert but thay can tell you the history.

It's being sold by a Lotus specialist, not a main dealer.

I have no doubts about the car being an SR gents, my concern was more about the engine going pop at 10k miles! Does that mean it's been thrashed about or is it just pure luck? From the pictures, the tires look almost new (so probably changed) and the brake discs have no lip or anything, potentially also changed? If it has new discs at 13k that to me does not sound good, but until I go and view it I guess i won't know.

Which dealer did the engine swap? Speak to them directly perhaps...

I will request all engine swap documentation and do some investigating. Good shout, thank you.

New clutch and engine. What is not to like there then!  :)

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

So I just got off the phone with Lotus Silverstone, spoke to one of the tech's that actually worked on that car. It would seem that things are not as clear cut as the Specialist selling it said. The car has come in with an EML lit up (it was driven like that for 200 miles...) and then threw a rod during diagnostic test drive. It was also fitted with some "430" kit or whatever, different pulley and map to make more power and apparently ran lean hence what caused the issue.

Sounds like a horror story to me, I mean it's a new engine and clutch, but having to explain all this to the next person when it comes to sale time is going to be a nightmare. I think it's worth a visit and test drive, but I guess there was a reason as to why it didn't sell since August 2019...

Ffs just my luck I guess. After having a few lemon cars in my life , i am very cautions about what I buy and something doesn't seem right about this one. Shame as the spec is amazing.

Personally, I would avoid that car. There are plenty enough Evora to choose from, be patient.

The car may be fab in itself but, as you say, on resale it will be a wart to explain. The colour is also another tricky sell, not many want a yellow Evora....I am not dishing yellow Evora, it is just that yellow is not a top choice colour...the two hic-cups together are not worth the risk.

When buying a car, always think 'if I was selling, what would I get for it'.

....and then buy it anyway, because Lotus is about passion.
Otherwise we’d only see subdued “German” colours, similar to those on most LE Evoras. 😉😁

Quite right too...as a former owner of a yellow Norfolk mustard Elise, then a chrome orange Elise, I love a wild colour.

Adore carbon grey Evora but admit it is a tad German.

I like to think more Bond (True British Icon and Ex Aston owner) 😂

Carbon gives the original lines an elegant look.

Must admit I love the bright colours but then a Lotus looks nice in all colours even Brown. 👍🏻
Dave :)

Do or do not, there is no try!

Carbon grey was the colour the Lotus design team felt the original Evora looked best with. Obviously, finished with cocobolo trim and you have the ultimate Evora spec. 😀

Elise looks good any colour. As do any Elan, 26 or 100. Love the brown Elan Sprint. Brown Eclat or Elite is just stunning. White is my favourite colour for most cars I buy but somehow Evora does not quite work in that shade for me. Still beautiful but not my favourite colour.

I'd walk away. Not sure the gearbox has much in reserve at those outputs as it is a limiting factor in the car - others on here would know more on that subject.

What the 430 output?  Isn't that what the GT430 puts out? I thought the engine and gearbox was good for circa 475bhp, 500bhp was when the issues start with the engine and round 470nm for the gearbox?

I think the bright yellow and black Evoras look the nuts

The mix of wild base colour with black/carbon bits on the later 'beefed up' Evora certainly do look stunning.

It will be torque not power that is the limitation in the Toyota Auris gearbox. As I say others on here will know more about the torque rating of the box - Googling suggests 400nm limit for it ?

Given the impending global economic depression, what are peoples best guess on how it will effect the Evora market in the coming 12 to 24 months?

The value of +0's will increase significantly as people continue to self isolate and have fun at the same time and look for the best value smiles per mile.

But apart from that, it's a bit like asking a blind man whether he liked the amazing technicolour dream coat, particularly how the red, blue and violet managed to maintain a good definition.
