  1. I'm curious @Steven162. How did you get it in the garden? I cannot see a driveway.
  2. I think the main reason would be that they are not rechargeable and need to be swapped and recycled. Mind you, it would depend on how long they would last, I suppose.
  3. Does anyone have an opinion on this company? https://www.metalectrique.com/ It looks a good solution to me, if it works.
  4. FYI. Thursday. This week. Goat at Timsbury. All welcome. 18:00 if you want to eat there. 19:30 ish if just for beer.
  5. Mine has 130,000 miles on it and it still goes lke a rocket. So long as it has been well maintained, it should be fine. To show my faith in mine, I am driving it to the Spanish border next year, when it may have 140,000 miles on it (224,000 km). Mine gets better with use. If it stands for too long, things go wrong. 100,000 Km over 16 years is only 6,000 per year. That is a reasonable mileage in my opinion (because that is about what I do!)
  6. I have a collection of the most politically incorrect books from my youth (and added to later as presents) - Biggles!
  7. But, classic cars - registered as Historic are exempt. So, in a year or two I can drive the Esprit around London (until they change the rules again!) https://classicandsportscar.com/features/london-ulez-9-things-classic-car-drivers-need-know If your classic is registered outside the UK, you need to register it with Transport for London (though God - and maybe @Bibs - knows how!)
  8. Excuse the thread drift, but thought you might be amused by this Tracker story. I hired a car in Johannesburg and it was stolen outside of a friend's house. The Tracker was activated and the police went to the site in Soweto to retrieve it. They did retrieve the Tracker - however, it was no longer attached to the car. Anyway, that was what I was told by the Car Hire company, who replaced the car without a murmur!
  9. Might be out of date. I should check if I were you.
  10. Anyone fancy a beer? @DaveC72 in the country?
  11. On a two week holiday, I make sure that my wife has the spare in her handbag. Hopefully, no complaining if she gets back to the car before me and she can't get in!
  12. You did! I remember asking your TLF name!
  13. You missed mine that you can just see in your last photo! Blue one, two down from the yellow plus 2.
  14. You don't want to see what happens to chocolate (after a trip to the Lotus in the Peaks from Hampshire) in the boot of an Esprit.
  15. You have brought back fond memories of the Wicked Lady at Nomansland Common. It used to be a very regular haunt of mine back in the (cough!) 70s and 80s in my youth. I seem to recall drinking Owd Roger quite regularly. Good job (as I recall) the drink drive laws were not as draconian then! Since I moved away from Hemel Hempstead I have not been there.
  16. Can't make it. I have to machete the garden before it takes over the whole town!
  17. Just turn the radio up to 11! Well, 43 on mine, actually, but you know what I mean.
  18. Have you called the dealer?
  19. Or you could drive a 40 year old Esprit - 359.1 miles for £60.44 last time I filled up! No manufacturing costs for 40 years.(Admittedly a few replacement parts) Haven't replaced the battery and I have had it for 10 years.
  20. I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing @PrecisionMike(refer to Numpty comment above). The wallet was hit with a bill for 12 hours labour (£600) (2018) and £275 for an input shaft. Other bits and pieces (including clutch and VAT) brought the total bill to £1400. Is that bulky wallet territory? I still trust my mechanic. He has a lot of experience with Lotus cars. The problem is probably my ignorance and not understanding one word of this thread!
