  1. Refunds do come through quite quickly, because they are dealt with electronically - unless you get picked on to go through Security. Then, it can take forever. Anything that involves a human takes an awful lot longer!
  2. The wire to the battery disconected from the alternator somewhere on the A303 from Yeovilton. I made it to Andover before I called the AA. In that time, the Tachometer stopped. The clock stopped. Apparently, I was doing 20 gallons to the mile at the rate my fuel guage was dropping. The Voltmeter was in the red (as you would expect). And I had no oil pressure. But, the engine ran for miles and miles. Eventually hiccupping enough for me to stop at a friendy Starbucks. Watching the gauges, I thought that it was an electrical problem (rather than oil pressure). Which it proved to be looking at the alternator. If only I had had a crimping tool and a connector, I need not have called the AA. But how oftern do you need those in the car?
  3. It is not often that I see another Esprit in the wild (accidentally), but a red one was joining the roundabout at Winchester as I was joining the M3 on my way to Christchurch. Then, stone me!, an Emira at the lights in Lyndhurst and another on the M3. Anything to do with Drive It Sunday?
  4. Off topic - apologies - but I have done 50K miles in my Esprit - which is now on 122K miles - and 86K in my Elise - which is on 135K miles. This is in 10 and 13 years respectively! Almost back on topic - I just lay my phone on its side behind the gearstick in the Esprit. Probably should come up with something more sensible!
  5. Yes it is @Simon Gooding But he hasn't been on the forum for 18 months or so.
  6. I didn't know that. I have never used Carplay. Thanks for the information.
  7. I can understand all your frustrations - especially the braking issue, which seems downright dangereous, but I am not sure that I am with you on displaying text messages. I have an automated system in my Esprit that stops me looking at text messages in the car. (SWMBO!). Good job, too, since too many of my texts/WhatsApps are jokes, anyway.
  8. The louvres are painted the same colour as the rest of the car. However, I am pretty sure that it is no longer Ice Blue. It has been painted and the closest match that I have got for it is the beautifuuly named "Fiat 461/A". And Thank You! I love it too
  9. I know that my parking was a bit careless, but I reasoned that there were 1200 free spaces in the car park when I parked. Obviously, the Porsche driver couldn't be bothered to find one. Good job mine is a soft top!
  10. You want to try dealing with the Revenue! (You really don't, trust me!)
  11. Never noticed Loomies! I am usually on the A272.
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-68426263 So the life of a Nissan Leaf is 8 years? Well, not quite, but some of its features are. My Windows XP machine is still available.
  13. It is certainly a feature with my 4 pot Turbo. Usually cranks half a dozen times. Always has done for the last ten years.
  14. https://caffeineandmachine.com/thehut/ Maybe somewhere for a beer one night? Dare I say it - maybe a regular meeting place? (If the beer is any good)
  15. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326021238437?itmmeta=01HQ8ZFGGPGVNSSN4XG3A61N2H&hash=item4be8614ea5:g:LbUAAOSwqtdl1nMz&itmprp=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwDCL2pwDa4ccQfE2PCgOj8rAxTgrridADicXGCk6uyBL55zoRpgL7rYyoINncTvhhFc9R%2FL7lXgjC6VgMXoVKwPxUjpV%2Fd516xqwBeTPcTKslZRfRD7zJDQBDUf9kg1q%2FF9VabFAHSRCjk2TWvEEOxTj1VP5Lzhrl%2B26cTSGLtLqV2C20ZcVoFbI%2F6wHoIwZKocguPJHm5zLu94LTuHb6Bp9Ve88QU8dw1hzuD0ivtIMHLQVY4UdhAj7AC%2BLMBbkQg%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR76Ivp-6Yw One for @pbharcourt?
  16. My hatch needed adjustment and lubrication when I got it. All fine now!
  17. @C8RKH I refer you to my question in November on this thread:
  18. Love the gloves! Essential equipment!
  19. If you answer yes to "act as guarantor", I would assume that means that you are agreeing to more than a credit check. You are right to be wary. As an alternative: would your bank advance the balance without a PG?
  20. Judging by some of the threads these days, I think it is "for the gamer"
  21. i would have said that is perfectly normal for a personal guarantee. I always advise to avoid personal guarantees where you can. However, If you are sure that the company will pay, then, no bother.
  22. @C8RKHWe first came across Pineau de Charente several years ago when we first stayed in the region, which is why we, as a group, drink it when we get together. For the same reason, we drink a fair bit of Monbazillac. We have "done" the Remparts weekend several times and love it! Usually get seats in the Cathedral grandstand and once got 6 of us got caught driving the track before the weekend started (got lost, guv, honest!)
