So disappointed for Russell, but equally delighted for Perez, no one deserved an F1 victory more. Another non-performance from Albon in the second fastest car, beaten by two Racing Points, two Renaults and a McLaren. Surely there’s no way back for him now? While Russell will rightly be devastated by losing the win through no fault of his own, he can console himself with the knowledge that he couldn’t have done a better job and has pretty much guaranteed himself a Mercedes drive from at least 2022.

Russell’s not driven the 2020 W11 before or been in their simulator this year and he doesn’t really fit in the car properly, so all in all, very impressive. Such a short, dull and simple layout though that times were always going to be unusually tight. congratulations to Bottas, he got the job done. I’ll be amazed if Albon is in the Red Bull next year.
  3. That‘s my old 2-11 which I owned from 2012 - 2014. I often wonder what happened to it and it’s great to see it still looking good and obviously being enjoyed. I’ve owned many different Lotus cars over the years, but nothing has matched the sheer exhilaration of the 2-11.
  4. Wow indeed! What a car ❤️
  5. Hardly worth fighting. You were speeding, you were caught. Pay the fee for the speed awareness course and waste half a day. That’s what I did 😊

Straight shoot out between the two drivers competing for a 2022 Merc seat. Should be interesting! Bottas has a huge advantage so really can’t afford to get beaten. It will also be interesting to see if either of them can beat Max.
  7. I also personally hope it never happens as I think the U.K. is stronger together. However, I don’t think Westminster should stand in the way if it’s what the people of Scotland want - frankly, SNP politicians in Westminster work solely to try and undermine the U.K. and that isn’t acceptable. Scotland are a net drain on the U.K. so if they want to leave, they should be welcome to do so.
  8. I always assumed that Scotland would want to join the EU and adopt the Euro, but would the EU want them as they’ll be another net drain on its budget and Spain would probably veto it anyway as they wouldn’t want a precedent set for Catalonia.
  9. What are they going to do about currency? You can't have an independent country without an independent economy. They seem to insist they are going to keep the UK Pound, but that would mean they remain effectively under Westminster control.

I wonder who will get the drive? Whoever it is, Bottas sure needs to beat him!!
  11. I couldn't agree with this more, but I assume that electric cars are still very expensive to develop and manufacture so have to be sold at a premium over their IC rivals and performance is far easier to deliver than range! You also have to factor in that people are going to want 'something' for paying 50% more than the IC option and even if the range is increased, it will still be considerably inferior to IC. Performance on the other hand....
  12. With the switch to electricity, cars aren’t getting any lighter. All cars will be 2+ tonnes. The death of the analogue car. Get one while you still can!
  13. Fair point. I think I read somewhere that the average car has grown in size by 55% since the 1970’s.

So, so lucky to walk away from that with only minor injuries!
  15. 2 x 311’s ❤️ Love the Triumph Thruxton to 😁
  16. I’ve never really understood why gizmo’s and a great driving experience have to be mutually exclusive!
  17. I don’t think said CEO came from a financial background. If he had, Lotus would probably be in much better shape pre Geely.
  18. Does sound like you need an Evora. The S1 is seriously good looking, sublime to drive and modern, refined enough to use for trips and tours. Don’t worry, it still has enough foibles to make it a ‘proper’ Lotus and there will be plenty of things for you to a be fiddling with if that’s your thing. It’s also a car that will be much admired wherever you go.
  19. So, in summary battery electric is the only viable future option but unfortunately battery tech isn’t there yet. They have nine years to fix that. 280 mile range sounds great, but if it’s going to deteriorate to 150 miles over the next four or five years then that’s a problem, particularly given that changing the battery will likely cost more than the car is worth.
  20. So, which ‘lucky’ person is having to get you that for Christmas? They were probably planning on spending £20 on pants and socks as your Christmas pressie 😊
  21. So, if you continue to run a IC car beyond 2030 you’ll have to pay under road pricing and still pay the fuel duty? Double tax on IC cars is going to make them very expensive to run, but perhaps that’s the plan. Used values on any new IC cars bought in the next five years or so are going to take a major hit so probably best to avoid from this point, and with electric cars still being relatively very expensive they’re best avoided to at this stage as the technology should evolve quickly over the next few years. How many people are going to just wait and see what develops over the next few years and avoid buying new at this point? I know I will.
  22. I don’t think the Exige is any wider than an Elise? My garage is 2.6m wide and the Elise goes in no problem. Getting in and out is tight, but not a major problem, lowering the drivers window is a big help. Of course it also depends on how big and agile you are. I’m 6ft but still quite bendy and skinny!
