  1. Interesting that the MOT is due December 2024
  2. 204k? pah, that's not much.. 😁
  3. The only issue with satin is that there are number of different black satin colours that actually vary considerably. Can't you get a match to the existing frame?
  4. Hi Chris I think it's satin or even matt but not gloss.
  5. Would look better if it had an Esprit or Elise in there from the 'heritage' collection, non?
  6. You can't escape. Earlier this month it was announced that Dua Lipa has just become the new 'face' of Porsche...
  7. An early attempt at an Esprit line up ahead of the masterpiece at Brands Hatch?
  8. Agree with Bibs that an Elemental shower cover is excellent. In reality the fabric hood tends to just go in the boot or in the netting behind the seats. The thin roof bars go behind the seats (slot holes for them to fit into) whilst the big ones do go in a bag that I tend to keep in the boot to stop them from rattling around in teh boot on their own. These do sometimes come up on eBay. Congratulations on your purchase, the S1's are indeed fabulous bits of kit.
  9. Two out of the three main listed motor insurers have had 3 profit warnings each in the last 6 months
  10. Not trying to defend them but as you've asked the question.. Motor insurance rates are going up c20% p.a. (or need to) to cover inflation, the value of older cars and catch up from last year when insurers didn't put up prices when they should have done.
  11. @ChrisJ Read that post twice now and I still have not the slightest clue about what you're talking about. Tried putting it into a google translation tool but got the same blank response. Whatever it means I'm glad it makes you happy!
  12. If similar cars are selling at that sort of price then you could (try) to argue that this would be a fair "market value" of your car and no need for an 'agreed value'. On the other hand if your car was stolen/written off you may have been better the a no argument agreed value. This should be set bearing in mind what other cars are selling at and any particular things with your car (eg better condition, lower mileage, better service track record etc etc). Yes, generally a mid 1980's Turbo Esprit does tend to go up in value over time but I don't think that they are rocketing up - that time seems to have passed, at least in the short/medium term.
  13. The Kolon Mobility Group. That should get things moving...
  14. Again similar story. Bought an exhaust via Paul Matty in 1990 and one of the tail pipes corroded off in about 2005. The manufacturing company (Miltek?) that had taken over the original supplier agreed to honour the lifetime warranty and supplied/fitted a new one free of charge.
  15. This reminds me of.. https://youtu.be/9hFZOWHGb6o
  16. Just back from the Garden party. As Justine said, it's hard to describe it other than absolutely fantastic and an absolute privilege to have been there. As an example, we stood waiting for the group photo and this old bloke ambles next to me wearing a flat cap. Had a look at his name badge and it was Mike Costin (half of Cosworth). Had a great chat with him about when he and Colin started out they only worked part time making race cars as they both had full time jobs. The whole event was a proper slice of Lotus history.
  17. Aston Martin have announced this morning that Geely is to invest $295m to become the third largest shareholder. Gives Geely the right to appoint a NED to the AM Board.
  18. Stunning classical architecture and the gaff behind ain't bad either.. The wow? - Compomotive not Compromise
  19. If you have a removable roof you should have a wind deflector. Using one helps (a bit) but I wouldn't get hung up about not having one - keep an eye open on eBay as they do come up.
  20. Wow, was that really over a dozen years ago??
