Fuel Price - what’s yours right now?
Redwing replied to mayevora's topic in Lotus / Motoring / Cars Chat
£1.58.9 for diesel yesterday at the Murco in Wormbridge, on the Hereford-Abergavenny road. -

430, or stick with what you've got, unless you want to go for one with lower mileage.
-
PHEW! (for now)

When I saw this, I was reminded of a desperate Saddam Hussain firing his scud missiles at Israel in order to stir up a complete sh1tstorm. If these were Russian missiles, and not Ukrainian, as Russia is suggesting, then what in hell's name is Putin up to?

@Bibs if that is the case, then fair enough. -
Emira joins the Thruxton Curcuit Experience Fleet!
Redwing replied to exeterjeep's topic in Emira Chat
Ex test mule? Ex press car? Ex demo car? If not, then I'm sure that this will grate with a lot of people. -
Something that keeps crossing my mind, that I don't recall being mentioned anywhere, is why have they dropped the double bubble roof of the Evora, one of the features that really makes it stand out for me? I'm no car designer by any means, so perhaps it just wouldn't work, or maybe they're saving it for a later edition. @RENDERMAN, please show us what you think.

I'm sure all the ladies would love this as it would seem impossible to leave the seat up after use.

Will they get their cars in time, or will it be more likely 2024?

This afternoon I had the pleasure/privilege of viewing @Abgreenbank's Emira. First of all, a big thanks to Ab for the okay, and a big thanks to Duncan at Autoshine, for allowing me to outstay my welcome! I believe that you can never compare pictures/videos etc to 'eyes on' experience. The Emira, in the flesh, is far more stunning than the images I have so far seen. Exterior wise, it is totally solid. The paintwork is flawless. Fair enough, it was sat in it's booth, awaiting it's PPE, with full LED lighting, so I can't fairly make any comment on the DV paint colour, suffice to say, that, with tan interior, which, in the booth lighting, looked nowhere near the orange portrayed in Ab's pics, is an absolute classic combination. The only point I would make, is that the PPF, as supplied on the car, could, at best, be described as adequate, and should be augmented or replaced asap as Ab has wisely chosen to do. The interior fit and finish far exceeds anything that Lotus has previously achieved. In all, I am totally impressed, and will be putting a deposit down for an i4 on Monday. I know that will entail a 2-3 year wait, but I don't mind. I've never been an early adopter for anything, and I have never made a major purchase, based on paper, pictures and promises. Which leads me to the sad situation that I know a lot of you guys out there are in. Fair play to Ab, as I said before, you lucky, lucky man. But, for those who committed a long time ago, I hope you get an apology, or, at least, some sort of an explanation from Lotus as to why they got this so horribly wrong for some of their most loyal/dedicated customers. But, when you do get your Emira, I'm sure the massive grins will outweigh the grief.👍

I wondered what he was sitting on when that pic was taken.

Ooh, you lucky, lucky man. I have to go to Liverpool on Saturday, but, if I get back early enough, would you mind if I pop into Autoshine and have a look? Promise not touch. Based upon your recommendation, I shall be going to them anyway to have some of the PPE replaced on my Evora.

Aston Martin Bulldog to Try for 200mph
Redwing replied to KAS-118's topic in Lotus / Motoring / Cars Chat
Apparently the Bulldog hit 176mph, in appalling weather, at RNAS Yeovilton last Friday. Looks like they're getting closer to the 200. -
I'm in Shropshire. Where are you getting the PPF done? Also, is this not a factory option?

Random car and/or Lotus related pictures and videos
Redwing replied to Bibs's topic in Lotus / Motoring / Cars Chat
Thanks @Bibs. Many years ago I ran a few Citroëns, a couple of GS and then a CX. Weird but compelling cars. I remember seeing the Katrin in some mag, and it obviously went on to influence the XM. One funny story from my time of owning these, which I still like to recount, is of when the two into one exhaust section blew on one of the GS. My Citroën wise mechanic at the time suddenly lost the will to live when I told him I needed a new one. There was talk of engine out, dropping the sub-frame, but he had heard that it could be done by some Chinese puzzle type movements, but that could be a myth. At that time Kwik Fit were rolling out and had opened a branch 20 miles away. They had an offer on, buy the exhaust section and they would fit it for free. Long story short, after being in there for about four hours with two fitters and the manager still with his tie on,but his jacket now off wrestling with it, job done. As I paid the £8 bill I was told to "never bring that f***ing thing here again"! -

Citroën Karin? -
I do wonder if Lotus/Geely are pumping the initial cars into markets where QC issues will not attract media attention?
-
Just seen in an article on BBC news website, about the boom in EV sales in China. Is there something we should know?
-
Is that it?
-
I do find myself wondering how long Geely will tolerate the financing of a small company, employing 100s of people with the associated overheads, that, apart from a few deposits, has seemingly generated no income for months. As @spinney has said, other manufacturers have several models to sell. Lotus have only the Emira and that is not going well, with none delivered to date. I worry that Geely will say "enough is enough" and pull the plug.

Windshield Sunshades
Redwing replied to Kimbers's topic in Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC/Other
I happened to have a roll of silver plastic bubble wrap type radiator insulation knocking about and when cut to shape works perfectly well, fitting it on the inside and using the sun visors to keep it in place. It rolls up or folds, eventually it starts to crack and become translucent but hey ho just use it as a template and cut another one off the roll, £12.56 for 10m from B&Q. -
Years ago, I would have said 'clutch release bearing'.
