  1. I'm starting to feel a pang of gilt......but in my defence i was here at almost the beginning ! When i'm back at work i'll pitch in.
  2. I had a similar problem with the company you are dealing with a few years ago,i went through 2 rebuilt 'S4s' spec turbos untill it dawned on them they were supplying the wrong part numbered turbo.I went through 2 turbos within year along with all the associated fitting costs. It gets my goat when a company specialises in a certain area of engineering and falls down on simple part numbers which they are supposed to know. Nick S4s
  3. Ok I feel better now ,mine was registered in October so must have been built fairly close to that .Thought I was being a bit thick not being able to identify anything discernibly different to mine.
  4. I'm struggling to see that this car is a 1996,mines a 1995 and I cant see any difference, mines on a 'N' reg too. Of course it could be my eyes.
  5. Yep mine too Dave.Ignition on ,fuel pump primes then crank. The only time i did have problems and that was down to a bad fuel pump and the last time down to loose relays in the relay box behind r/h wheel arch.
  6. So i received my new clear lenses as the old ones had cracked ,now i have replaced both side light and indicator filaments before ,but as 'they' say you always forget bad things and pain or at least it gets a little more bearable.. Que the indicator bulb holder disappearing off the back of the lenses assembly ,how i laughed as i drilled out 2 screws ,and fished holder out through a hole a gynaecologist would be hard pushed to overcome. There is no moral to the story but the car does look a little fresher from the front. Now for the MOT.
  7. Lets be honest the CEL is a bit of an arse ache to disconnect, remove binnacle ,Lotus position etc. filaments do just plain burn out any way i digress. We as a forum are fortunate to be in the position of knowing every single aspect of the Esprit and even then it throws us a curved ball, what chance would a dealer have? Its all very well saying they should know ,but as has been said in a earlier response even the best can get laden down in the mire. Its only a machine put together by man therefore can be fixed by man. This forum is descending into an action forcing a reaction scenario. Nick S4s
  8. I think you are about to find out the difference between the two ,on another curious note ,considering you have said you owned a S4s in 1999 you seem to have forgotten an awfull lot about the car to seemingly knowing jack.Anway enjoying the banter cant wait for the end..............................there is an end right??
  9. Oh this is getting better and better..............now i'm not one to stir....................but its utterly amazing how much bad luck one single person can have. All the makings of a thriller ,intrigue ,death, money ..........but no sex.....as yet !!!!!!!!!!!
  10. And breathe........................already looking forward to part 2.
  11. They are captive, try a bit of lube before attempting to release if they are really badly rusted, or just wire brush the tangs and paint I covered mine with tape to stop them rattling ! Nick S4s
  12. Yep have the same problem, nip down to Halfords buy a can of cold stuff and do it yourself ,hardest part is removing under tray !
  13. I agree with the MOD(Advantage) it took me less then a minute to find your house and soon to be fully serviceable shiny S4s.... Nick S4s
  14. Wishing to avoid being the harbinger of doom but the gearbox magnetic plug is more of an indication of gearbox health rather than a tool for removing debris.(or more correctly bits that are failing) Nick S4s
  15. HOW MUCH??? Even Boeing don't charge that amount for an aircraft approved part .(although they probably do) Nick S4s
  16. You could try some PTFE tape around the threads i wouldn't torque it any more unless its silly loose i cant remember off hand what the correct torque is. Stupid question but are you sure its the plug leaking and not say the output shafts roll pins? Nick S4s.
  17. Have a look on LEW there is a 'how to' article on disabling the ABS system ,but i would check that your insurance is still good also you may also have MOT issues.
  18. I agree that a build up of grime/film on the shuttle may cause it to stick and simply being able to clean it so it slides without hinderance may be a fix.i cant see properly from the pictures but has the shuttle got a kind of PTFE/nylon back up ring behind the O ring? it may even be a 'split' which would mean that it puts pressure on the o ring (deliberately) to cause it to swell and creating and good seal when under pressure. .As you have said ,the contacts look good and the only really moving part is the shuttle part of the valve. If the shuttle has a glaze on it then simply soaking the part in a de-greasent may not be enough to 'bust' the glaze and a more aggresive form of cleaning may be requires which can only be accomplised by stripping the unit,i think that all 3 o rings should be replaced as they are probably degraded through age and perhaps even temperature.Looking forward to hearing your results. Nick S4s
  19. Was it a case of that the 'shuttle' part of the switch/valve is sticking in the housing in which it slides ? or a combination of sticking shuttle and a weak contact breaker ? Following this with interest good man Owen.
  20. Mine does have a push button on the front of it.Mine cracked around the bezel i used super glue been good for over ten years !
  21. My S4s has this plug ....hanging loose ,I also lost a few mounting bolts over the years, spring washers are your friend. Please see attached pic of plug and engine mounting bolt (not very clear admittedly) Nick S4s (in Black obviously)
  22. I would have thought about £1300 fitted a more resonable price ,as everyone has said shop around,it is only a car .if you continue to drive and the clutch does slip you will end up needimg a new flywheel if on the other hand you dont you may not.... Try Geoff at Esprit Eng for a quote.
