  1. Congrats! Looks lovely in the garage 🥰
  2. I believe the rear lights are Isuzu Piazza (which it shares the engine with), but they couldn’t get them to pass regs with light output, so used Alpine lights instead. i think the 300km is a minimum Facebook put on car ads.
  3. I saw this on FB too. Surely worth £1500 as a piece of Lotus history. Notice how the wheels don’t sit inboard, and look right unlike the production car.

    Aurora

30 second exposure earlier in Sussex.
  5. Depends on the model…if you have buttons on the steering wheel, you have cruise
  6. I saw this....looks lovely in that colour, but that's some strong money as (one of!) the plates show it's done 139k? But the advert is hinting at 197k (average of 5800 over 34 years)
  7. I hate how diesels have been demonised, even though the Euro-6 compliant vehicles can often output considerably less particulates and gases than the equivalent petrol car (considerable advancements in CAT and DPF in the last decade have helped here). But they are no longer flavour of the month with anyone any more 😔
  8. Having two (non plug in) hybrids in the household, I would say they are in fact the best of both worlds. They can get mid 60s mpg (sometimes more) round town...no petrol or diesel car can manage that. They can also mostly run on electric for a few miles, so silent and relaxed running, not churning out emissions around pedestrians etc. There's also the obvious bonus that you can refill and run on petrol...so no range anxiety like you might get with a full EV. Range for our Toyotas is typically 400 miles to a tank. The petrol engine re-engagement is flawless, and mostly unnoticeable, it handles spinning it up when you are demanding more power, or the Lithium ion battery needs recharging. You can literally forget it is a hybrid and drive it like a regular auto petrol car. There are drawbacks...mainly the complexity of the whole drivetrain...BUT Honda and Toyota have been making these cars for about 30 years now and have sussed the tech to make it reliable. Why do you think that most Taxis are Toyota Corolla hybrids? 😉 In summary...for now I wouldn't buy an EV. The infrastructure is not ready yet. It will be one day. In the mean time for low emissions, efficiency and a compromise, hybrids are the way to go I think. Oh, and answering your question on Motorway driving ..because of the wind resistance goes up with speed squared, hybrids loose their efficiency at speed, and have to run mostly on petrol when cruising at 70mph. However, on a recent trip to Wales, we did see over 70mpg average over a couple of hundred miles of motorway and A road driving. You would need a good diesel to achieve that.
  9. The only opening in the S1 bumper is the middle. The end two are supposed to be 'fake' inlets with a plastic moulding.
  10. Honestly...if I didn't have an Evora, I would be all over yours Jep! For the money too, it's had all the worrisome things done. Main dealer history too. Get along to see it Trevor 😉
  11. Completely agree with Bibs. Buy on condition and service history....NOT worrying about milage (mine is on 78k now). I would say the early clutches are not always heavy and from what I read, a heavy clutch can be a sign that the the plates are worn. Mine is pretty light actually...not far off the Elise I had. My first impression of driving the car when I bought it was NOT "Blimey, this clutch is heavy!")...so I would maybe be concerned with the one you looked at. Bumper sagging/alignment can be sorted fairly easily (mine isn't great actually!) Same with the headlamp positioning in the front clam...pretty easy to do with the arch liners off. Most Evoras this age will have some new paint unless they've done ultra low miles. The front bumper chips really easily. I've just had mine sorted, and matching the colour was a mare! If it was me, I wouldn't be buying this car with the big gap in service history. What else (other than oil changes) haven't been done over the last 8 years? That would be my worry.
  12. Yes I believe launch editions were standard leather front and back. They also normally have a small plaque inside the drivers sill.
  13. Like others have said, clutch is the main thing, but can last anything from 20k to 70k+ (mine was changed at 72k). Supposedly the early ones were not quite centrally aligned with the flywheel causing premature wear. It's supposed to be possible to fit the later stronger 400 clutch... Check headlamp sidelights and indicators as well as the lacquer condition . They are sealed units, and use LEDs for everything but main/dipped, and the solder joints can dry out... especially on older cars. They can be repaired relatively inexpensively. The drivetrain is very strong, especially on the unstressed N/A. The long box is trouble free (most launch editions were the long version). Like Seb says, the early short ratio box is a ticking time bomb if not sorted....Lotus swapped the Toyota (Auris diesel?) long ratios with their own...and I think some weren't machined/hardened properly...and subsequently fail. One thing I always look at as well as a good service history is matching decent tyres... usually a good indicator that if someone has skimped on something as basic as tyres, what else have they not bothered with? The early N/A and S are disappointingly quite quiet standard...
  14. Enjoyed meeting everyone, thank for organising. It's a great venue for car meets!
  15. How many are going to this @Peapod, as I may pop along 🙂
  16. I've just had the Evora freshened up at the front, ridding the car of the stone chipped front bumper. Sprayed at M-Tech in St.Leonards-On-Sea. I think they've done a wonderful job and it's back to looking immaculate. I got a couple of lucky shots also just as the sun was setting, showing off what an amazing colour burnt orange is ❤️
  17. Soz...back to normal service A nice turnout at a local car show, no Evora's this year though...so here's one of mine
  18. The sport button on the S1 Evora and Evora S certainly does affect the traction control, and allows a little bit more slip than normal, but it not fully off. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1381115/Lotus-Evora-2011.html?page=93 "The Sport Mode selector button is provided to deliver quicker throttle response, increased power induced wheel slip-page thresholds, no throttle reduction on detection of understeer, and a maximum continuous engine speed raised from 6,600 to 7,000 rpm."
  19. When do we think the number of Emiras will exceed 6000 then? Or has it already happened?
  20. https://uk.motor1.com/news/669260/tesla-model-y-best-selling-car-q1-2023/ Sorry I was talking about the fact the Tesla Model Y is the best selling car in the world at the moment
  21. The Majority of the Tesla Model Y sales were in China, so its skewing the figures somewhat. The best selling car in Europe in 2023 so far is the Dacia Sandero, and in the US a Ford pickup unsurprisingly. The Model Y is a close second in both instances though...
  22. There are some strong prices of 2018/19 410s from Sussex Lotus....not far off Emira prices really! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202307039228546?atmobcid=soc3 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202307039228230?atmobcid=soc3
  23. Looks a little small for an Evija. New EV only Elise?
