  1. Vauxhall's latest advert is interesting. It starts with "think that electric is more expensive than ICE?" they then go on to say you can have an EV for the same monthly payments as an ICE car. The catch...... ICE payments over 4 years EV payments over 5 years
  2. Renault are now using the name Esprit for their alpine versions of cars. https://www.whatcar.com/renault/austral/estate/e-tech-fhev-techno-esprit-alpine-5dr-auto/102935 Is it not protected by Lotus?
  3. Watching the programme about the highways agency and they were attending an accident on the motorway involving a Tesla. It had smashed into another car and was stuck in the middle of the motorway with all traffic stopped. The highways people had been instructed that they couldn't touch an electric vehicle. Also the police in attendance said they couldn't touch an electric car. So the whole motorway was stuck until a specialist recovery truck arrived to take it away. Had it been an ICE car they would simply have pushed/dragged it to the hard shoulder.
  4. Helpfully Land Rover have a button on the steering wheel that allows to to turn off the annoying beeps. Apparently it is legislation that they are there and enabled. But one press on the button when you start and off they go.
  5. These are our only neighbours. We don't get much trouble from them although we did find one in our garden at 4am a few years ago!
  6. Maybe try contacting the police & crime commissioner for the area? So are up for election in May
  7. This one can do 1000 square metres but they do others that can do larger. It is very clever - no boundary wires, you set the boundary using an app (it overlays on google maps) you can set multiple areas and also have exclusion zones as well as a schedule for when it should cut. So far it has done 4 miles!
  8. Just bought one of these... https://www.husqvarna.com/uk/robotic-lawn-mowers/automower-410xe-nera-with-husqvarna-epos/ So sitting back now watching it do it's thing.
  9. At least in USA they are trying.... Parents of school gunman found guilty and locked up. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-68773119
  10. It pulls about 4Kwatts when it's running so 4KwH for 3 days.
  11. Just fired up the air source heat pump for the swimming pool. It is air to water (obviously!). Started with a temp of 16C and ended with a temp of 31.5C Took 3 days to raise the temp of 96,000 litres of water (21,117 gallons) Now just kicks in and out to keep the temp at 31.5C

    Caturday...

So after the loss of Mitzy we felt we needed another Burmese so here is little Ember (Sodora Madam Rosmerta)
  13. The CMA are already investigating https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68563427
  14. Won £50 on the premium bonds
  15. Lotus Birmingham are doing it as well.
  16. My wife's car (Discovery Sport) is in for repair after someone backed into her. Her insurance said that as it was the other party's fault she was entitled to an equivalent hire car. They asked Enterprise to arrange. She now has a Volvo XC60 while hers is in for repair. Have to say it is quite nice to drive - fairly nippy and has all the bells and whistles.
  17. Isn't that discriminatory against rockers? Who do I report it to??
  18. It would appear that the Home Office are looking into his case as he shouldn't have been granted asylum. If you commit a serious crime then that bars you. Also being on the sex offenders register (which he is) also bars you. Home office have been asked to look into it as to why he was granted asylum.

    Caturday...

Had to say goodbye to this beautiful girl yesterday. RIP Mitzy
  20. I'm with ClassicLine insurance and have breakdown cover included in the policy - covers for UK and Europe (plus a few other countries)
  21. Although she has handed it back - she still officially has it. From the BBC website: "People can indicate they would like to renounce their honour, as Ms Vennells has now done - but doing so has no formal effect. Until the King is advised by the Forfeiture Committee and acts on its advice, Ms Vennells will continue to hold her CBE." Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67925304
  22. Been to Vegas once - as it happens wasn't a place we wanted to go but I won a competition and got invited to a Microsoft conference courtesy of Microsoft. They paid for the flights, room and conference. Took the opportunity to do a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Included touching down in the canyon for sandwiches and champagne.
  23. Perhaps I should have clarified - these regs only apply to England. So you are safe up there @C8RKH There is indeed a test as to whether it is a business but there have recently been some prosecutions under this law for people operating without a licence. As @C8RKH says if money changes hands then you could consider that to be a business transaction. You would not believe what is actually in the regulations. We have to have a licence to operate our cattery. The guidance runs to 45 pages and covers everything from size of pens to qualifications of those running it, temperature, risk assessments, records to be kept...... They also introduced a star rating (1 to 5, 5 being the best). To get 5 stars you not only have to meet the regulations but exceed them in places so for example pens have to 1.5 times the required size. Someone also has to be on site 24 hours a day. We achieved 5 stars which means we get a licence for 3 years. We are just renewing our licence now and will be inspected by someone from environmental health in the next few days who will decide our rating.
  24. If she was dog sitting with the dogs in her own home then she needs to be licenced under the Animal Activities Licencing Act 2018. To board dogs in your own home you have to be inspected and have a licence issued. You could report her to the local council for boarding without a licence.
  25. It's not too bad and it is a concrete floor. We have a pond vacuum (a large one!) that can be used to vacuum up the water
