  1. Isn't Amazon based in Luxembourg for tax purposes?
  2. My dad's first ever company car was a SD1 2300 in green - it rusted out within a year and had to go back. He replaced it with a SD1 2600 in Red. He had this for quite a while then he moved away from BL and replaced it with a Mk 3 Vauxhall Cavalier. I've always had a fondness for them - not the 2300 mind.
  3. Am really looking forward to seeing this back on the road. Back in the day used to think ... meh, but now - they are part of the Esprit history and need to be kept and used.
  4. I went and looked at a 2+2 Evora when my kids were 9 & 6, they couldn't fit in the back, so I bought an Excel. Kids now 19 & 16, I can still get 3 in the car in relative comfort, although I wouldn't want to take on a family holiday with more than 2. The boot is surprisingly large. I have got 6 flight suitcases in it - more than some modern SUV/Crossover things. A mechanically well sorted one is great to drive. The bloody ULEZ has reduced my usage as although I'm outside it, I used to drive to my hockey club inside it at least once a week. I should really reduce down to one classic Lotus - my heads says keep the Excel, my heart the Esprit.
  5. pah ... you need to do what my daughter's instructor would do - use the dual controls to stop the car to protect the new wheels. Mind you, she also wouldn't let her drive over 30 mph, would say "roll in first", and refused to take her for her driving test in Northampton (daughter was in Buckingham) as it was "too far away". It was from the colourful driving instructor company - the only one I could book any lessons with. Had to buy her a car just for the test. She said she learnt more in the 3 weeks she drove with me than the year with the instructor. She failed as she wouldn't turn her head to look - would just use her eyes. I did tell her.
  6. and the petrol engine in the PHEV needs to be able to charge the battery (so breaking the need for the charging away from home) - which seems to be the case more often.
  7. Welcome to the forum - I second @exeterjeep - I had to buy an Excel to carry my family around in as they didn't fit in my Esprit.
  8. Harry wasn't very complimentary about the Eletre's range.

Since visiting this mine 3 weeks ago, the shares price now is 2.3 times higher. I have invested a lot more into the company after visiting, and am currently the gross annual salary of the job I was made redundant from in Dec up since my visit - with most of it in my shares ISA - beats working
  10. I worked for a house builder for 3 years - privately/family owned - the amount of money they raked in for selling 100-120 houses a year was rather large. Smallest rooms in the houses that they could get away with, next to no garden etc. They employed a right thicko to do the aftersales, not sure much got done.
  11. @ianeldy - thanks for those. Whereabouts in the country are you located, as there may well be a regular meeting close to you.
  12. Nice collection you have. although you need a G car as well And we love photos here πŸ“·

Please click through to the thread below - don't reply here as no-one gets notified of it.
  14. Our first meeting of 2024. Unfortunately the Plume of Feathers are no longer doing breakfast, and a new location I thought that we could go to couldn't do 18/2, so we are off to Essendon Country Club. 8:30 meeting for a 9am breakfast. @thebartman is back up and running, so hopefully he will be there. Here is the location Bedwell Park Essendon Hatfield Hertfordshire AL9 6HN Can you please add your name to the list as I need to give the venue numbers before we visit. Chris & Olive (I think)
  15. Ah - the one in your photo does look a bit odd. Mine are just underneath the teddy bear cloth - no holes. Doesn't sound great. I think the nice looking speakers is the route to go if not re-trimming.
  16. Made me laugh From Facebook - more there like these
  17. It has been that way since 1987 Just found this insurance photo from 1992(ish)
  18. On my cloth interior (admittedly an S3) it has always been the cone shape - there is something rubber like underneath the cloth that keeps it that way.
  19. Just to add to the above - I've emailed a friend in Uganda to find out the current contact details of the ASFU as I want to make a donation. If anyone else wants to do so - please PM me rather than put it in the thread.
  20. I created a website for The Acid Survivors Foundation Uganda in the early 2000s and a braver bunch of people I have yet to meet. Their website is now on Facebook - here - and they are a proper NGO where 100% of their income goes to support the people it is meant to - unlike all those foreign ones where 80% of the funding goes towards foreigners who need to run it. I had to caveat the website with "This site contains disturbing images of the survivors of Acid Attacks and they may cause some distress" - they were quite disturbing photos. Strangely it isn't on on the WayBack machine and I don't have a copy of the website - which surprised me when I went to look at my backups. It is a cowardly action and it happens as acid is easy to get hold of. I would call it terrorism, and deal with it the same way. The person, when caught, should be deported back to Afghanistan - and any hooman rights lawyers should be told to FRO. I'm sure that the Taliban will treat him with dignity as he is now a "christian".
  21. And the yellow one has the black seats with the green interior as well
