Engine Rebuild

I have just had to take the engine out of my S3 Esprit Turbo and it is going to require a full engine rebuild.

Has anyone got any recommendations of who to send it to to carry out this work?

There are lots of good specialists like Pete at PNM, Steve at SJ, Gerald at GST, Mike at Lotusbits, all are decent people so worth chatting and see what they quote.

The Forum has some superb people if you read the various posts who can recommend or help. I found Dave Lisle a font of knowledge when building mine just as a starter.

John Douglas was a fantastic guy but very sadly passed away 😢

To be fair, Fabian has encountered a problem, with something he wasn't aware was a problem (the follower), so I hope he takes that comment in jest rather than a cruel attack which I don't think it was meant as.

Pete at PNM is incredibly knowledgeable about these engines and has done a complete rebuild on mine.

i Was more than happy with the cost and the quality of work as I visited a few times while it was being done.

i was pondering doing it myself as I’ve built a few engines over the years, but I’m so glad I didn’t as I wouldn’t have been nearly as thorough.

Got to say Sparky .Wished he was closer . I think he would have sorted a lot of problems I had with my rover v8 engined esprit.when I owned it .knows a lot about Esprits  .And lotus engines  907  to turbos .Mike

mine is the bollox... 🙂👍

i thought it was a very straight forward Build to be fair. My second 910 Turbo engine from the crankshaft up. 
some make it sound like a Saturn 5 to build. It’s an internal combustion engine, that’s all. And to be fair the tolerances are not even that tight.

the main thing is having the right kit and space. 

Fabian was dead unlucky IMO. 
Had a follower fail by the sound of it. 
nothing to do with blast media. My entire block, sump and head blasted. Clean as a whistle. No residue. Good as gold.

I was available before Christmas for about 6 weeks as I was between contracts. 
Been picked up for another 18 months work Building Flats in Fulham. Not as much fun as building 910s in my workshop. 
all the afore mentioned engineers would do a brilliant job. 
@Sparky is first on the list though.

I used Mike at Lotusbits for my 84 turbo rebuild last year. I would recommend any of the well known companies but make it somewhere you can get to. Lotusbits was on my way to work and I ended up popping in there a lot to discuss options / issues.
