1988 Esprit turbo coolant expansion tank

Hi,

Can someone let me know how this expansion tank is supposed to mount. I cannot feel or see any mounts for it.

Here is a picture of mine installed. I have never removed it so cannot confirm the mounting arrangement, plus the mounting lugs come through the carpet. I can only assume the mounts might be similar to the one in the second picture.

So that's just sitting in the cavity behind the wheel well? I assumed it should be hidden away somewhere but I guess it makes sense there for easy access.

What's the corrugated pipe to the left for? Mine doesn't have that either.

The corrugated hose connects to the tailgate drain, and thence to the outside world. It's shown in your first photo.

Does your boot get wet, by any chance?

There is a little carpet cover that goes over it; its held in by some velcro. That's what mine has at least.

Chillidoggy, the pipe is there on my car🤦. The old observation skills need honing!

Tomcattom, I wondered what that bit of carpet was for, that'll neaten that area up when I get round to reassembling the boot area.

The problem with covering the overflow tank with carpet, is that you can’t see the fluid level in it. For this reason, I leave mine uncovered at all times, and a quick glance tells me what I need to know.

Chillidoggy, good idea, it's tucked away far enough the carpet seems a bit unnecessary.
