What made you happy today?

One year ago, I had my right knee replaced with a stainless steel and titanium joint.

Am walking like a younger man, and the pain is minimal now,

Thirty years of waiting and perserving with other surgery and treatments.

I have a future! Didnt seem that way a year ago.

The simple pleasures - just got the chance to give my little Scarlett a damn good wash - no interruptions, no stress, just good fresh air and two buckets!

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

It's 1700ish local, and just back from lunch....started at 1215. Here in France, taking one's time is expected and makes one "un homme sérieux"..a man who takes his pleasures seriously. As ever, excellent food and company...the daughter of the owner's was introduced to Rex's dog, Skye, and all went well. She's 2 1/2...the daughter, not the dog...seems impossible, I remember her as a small bump!! 35 deg C, so we dined indoors in the shade, and now I'm watching the mad cyclists on the TdF on the telly.

Got another lunch booked, in Briare, for Saturday...so tomorrow I shall be polishing the boat hull before heading off to Paris next week, sometime..... retirement is SO boring.....(!)

Oh yes...and I've just about got the engine cover on the Douglas Madthing sufficiently symmetrical to cover with glass cloth and epoxy....after that I can sort out the mechanics...(!)  And got to change the exhaust manifold on the Lotus this winter,too....

Continuation from UNHAPPY thread.

Bleeding all stopped, but mainly, 99% of the pain has gone away, so quite happy about that. :)

My Esprit passed it's MOT today, it's first since 2006 (expired in 2007)

The 6 mile drive to the MOT station was the furtherest I had travelled in the Esprit for 8 years. I'd forgotten how much attention it draws!

I have just spent a very sweaty day with my head in the bilges, fitting a new 8mm copper fuel line to my boat. OOOHHH wot fun.... even with pipe benders and proper flaring tools and having annealed the copper tube first....not to mention yesterday's lathe work on the end fittings....

Around 1600 I had got totally cheesed off...surrounded by bits of bent and twisted copper tube...trying to work out bending allowance and so forth. I very nearly stacked...but pressed on regardless and finally the pipe was fitted; all nice smooth bends, no kinks....just waiting for the pipe olives to arrive..tomorrow, with any luck. Amazing what foul brown muck came out of the old fuel line!!  Be nice to be confident the petrol won't leak any more..... I reckon another couple of days and we can go cruising.....at last...........

Watching a man chuck up outside his 911 (C4 DUP) on the side of the A421 near MK, then watch his girlfriend start to clean the inside of the door and seats.

Even better, the ladies skirt kept blowing up in the wind for the traffic.

Please please please tell me he doesn't want to be a politician!   :no

But congratulations to him all the same, always good to get your first choice confirmed.

New Forged Alloys arrived yesterday. New TPMS units arrived today. New pocket router (god-send for the hotel-living lifestyle) arrived today. It's like Christmas! Now time to polish the wheels and prepare them ready to be fitted for the weekend!

And best of all, my new other-half hasn't slapped me for my purchases! Huzzah!

But then she has been online and printed off some very nice pictures of twin 6" heeled Jimmy Choo stilletto's to retread her feet with!   No? Wow, she's a keeper then.... ;)
