If there's any Essex owners reading this have look in your Essex history file please, want to know the Essex no. in the photo.

The reg no. DSK 778 is now on a BSA motorbike isn't an original Essex reg. no.

The older pictures show the Compomotives as they originally were, satin anodised rims. Most of them these days have been polished. They do look great though when polished. Probably better looking than the original look.

The anodised finish is lovely, Bauke's #951 are still like this, for some reason you cant re-anodise them? Which I always thought was strange. We are used to seeing the Essex cars now with them shiny and polished @Bazza 907 and @Veilside which I agree look great too.

I also wonder if only the pre-production cars in the brochures had the GOODYEAR lettering from the factory. Most of the customer Essex cars in period photos don't have the lettering coloured in.

Yes, customer cars didnt come with the lettering. At the time Goodyear had just launched the NCTs and they did a marketing tie-up with Lotus. So I would assume Goodyear applied the white lettering on press cars.

They also did pretty well in getting the white lettering onto the Bond cars!

Hi Lex

My wheels are still original/anodised and are not 'mirror' polished. You can polish anodised wheels without removing the original finish as I have but if the wheels are ever refurbished it would appear that you can't get them re anodised - I know Jonny (Pitts) tried to get his Compomotives done that way but wasn't able to.

Interesting brochure for Essex owners, launch invite from Essex at ALbert Hall, Feb 1980. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOTUS-ESSEX-MOTORSPORT-F1-GALA-LAUNCH-FEB-1980-ALBERT-HALL-DAVID-THIEME/333856703784?hash=item4dbb690528:g:MyEAAOSwpVxf6kb5 Never seen the team referred to as Lotex before.

Two sets of keys, it was a new car afterall. 🙂

Mine has a glossy paper wallet, the gala night brochure, sales brochure/flyer for Essex Esprit, Essex logo A4 sticker, A4 colour pics of various Essex livery cars, Essex logo'd menu, A4 Essex F1 headed notepaper profiles of F1 drivers and the outer envelope.

I suspect the menu is a bonus in the one I have but I would think much of the other stuff would have been included.

Guests also received a signed copy of the chef Roger Verge's cookbook 'Cuisine of the sun'. Signature is on an Essex logo'd stick-on paper leaf on the opening page of the book.

You really need to put some photos up for us to see Justin - sounds like material that needs sharing. Was the Essex Esprit brochure the standard one like the one pictured or a show special?
