Bloody good idea,though I do have a good used spare at the mo, however I am in a possition to be able to use the SE mainifold, are the later SE manifolds still readily available? Cause I might have a rethink if there not.

I was under the impression that the exhaust manifold problem extended to all 4-pot models of the Esprit, is that not the case?

If you are referring to cracked manifolds, then sorta.

All manifolds can crack. The early manifolds for cars with integrated wastegates have the most tendency to crack. Over the years, Lotus has modified these manifolds to increase the amount of material between ports to reduce the problem of cracking. I would venture to guess that most of the cracks are caused by vibrations introduced when one or more of the exhaust manifold studs falls out of the #4 port. This can also lead to cracks in the early cars with external wastegates.

I would like to sign up for a set for the inevitable day when my 85 G car needs a new manifold. Will Lotus make enough for everyone or are they definitely limiting the run to 25? seems more sensible to enable more of us to keep the things on the road so's they can continue to make money from all the bits we need to keep them running nicely!
