Yup. I really do think they are missing the point. No one is really interested in seeing if an electric car a bike or a hovercraft can win a race in Moscow.

They really really need to go back to the format where "Our Producers gave us £2500 - £10,000 to buy a "insert choice" and told us to meet up for a series of challenges.

There are still so many to do or even redo!

Can Jezza really be that inept in a hovercraft? Steering straight ahead and steer it on asymmetric thrust at slow speeds...just like a twin screw boat. Steering for high speed only. Did love Hamster falling off the bike and snapping off the derailleur...lucky he didn't end up with a shoulder like mine(!)..schadenfreude there, for sure. Who on earth was the ginger chap learning to drive with the Stig? Reasonably entertaining, could do better, should listen to the suggestions above....4/10.

  • 2 weeks later...

Surprised no one has commented on last nights episode (Ambulances).

No car tests, Daniel Ricciardo (who I took a bit of dislike to for the first time) and then the feature itself.

I am almost embarrassed to admit I laughed a lot to the point of tears, as it was as far removed from Top Gear as its possible to get.  It was almost on the point of being childish.  These features were always good as they would treat them serious but something funny would always happen.  Now its scripted to be "funny", its almost Laurel and hardy with cars.

I really don't know what to think anymore, but I will still be watching next weekend.

I was going to fast forward and I thought, no, I'll watch it and I must admit, I was crying with laughter, especially when Hammond got covered in piss and vomit.

+1.  That was the bit that has me laughing as well as JC with the dummys gentlmans sausage

Nonsense but sometimes funny scripted nonsense, maybe they should just make it into a satirical sketch show........

Its that now, should really be renamed from TG to something else

It's an entertainment show now, not a motoring show.

I must agree...I was howling with laughter at the "ambulance" stuff. Funniest thing I've seen in ages... Was also impressed with the Aussie's lap time...quick, or what? Roll on the races and let's hope RB have built him a decent car...

Must agree, it was great fun. But they need some new ideas, the series of "blundering ideas built into old cars" is pretty much exhausted.

Ricciardo's lap time showed once again the fastest lap is rarely spectacular to watch.

Now, this Sunday's episode was a real car show, except the useless piece with the Land Rover. Be interesting to see how the AMG impacts 911 sales. I bet there will be no impact, the segment just grows accordingly.

Fully agree with Clarkson's closing remarks on the i8.

Maybe Peugeot have upset them and it's their way of getting back at them?

For Me, last night was a load of crap. I fast forwarded most of it. What do I care about £1 million cars or the fact that Ferrari won't let them race it?

And as Bibs says the Peugeot bit was the biggest load of self indulgent bollocks I have seen in ages.

Lastly, Why the F**K do half of the show on something so crap when there are cars like the Exige S to test.

On that note, no Evora 400 on the "News" section, but a Ford Focus and why hasn't the Exige V6 been tested? When the old man was at Lotus they were constantly using the Exige to test against things, did pieces on it and tested the Evora when it came out!

Well said Kimbers - lots of Lotus stuff to be talked about an viewed right now. They should have ended that show "and on that bombshell - yet again, this was a waist of an hour of your life"

The Peugeot bit was puerile pointless piffle. Thankfully I had recorded the show and was able to fast forward through it....and the babblings of that second place singer chappie, whoever he was....quick, though; maybe his true talent lies on the track? I enjoyed the Ferrari bit as pure engineering porn, and the Americans managing to make a creditable stab at a sports car was interesting, too. Loved James May's idea of the gratuitous insult speaking car......!

One area I will stick up for TG is on their supercar stuff.  I know people moan about them not testing normal cars, but if I want to find out what a Focus, Astra, Golf or whatever is like, I can.  I will never drive a LaFerarri (or maybe even see one) so I want to see it on the TV doing its thing.  A proper petrolhead feature and the best part of last nights show IMO, followed by Hammonds Corvette piece.

I think the Exige S has been out too long now to be tested, sadly.  Think we can write that one off.

The Evora 400 not making the news may be down to timing of the announcement being too near to the filming.  Hopefully it will be on next weeks news.

I record the show and fast forward through the rubbish, I found the Electric hybrid super car reviews interesting for the same reasons as Nelly9000. The kid in me quite liked the Corvette. Definitely not enough new Lotus stuff on the show. When was the last time they had an in production Lotus on the show?

Mind you not featuring Lotus might be a good thing,  wonder how the comedy sketch about  Peugeot and Peugeot drivers went down on the Peugeot owners club?

There is absolutely no reason not to drive the Exige. Just because it's been out a while. I find the fact that they talk about handling, acceleration and British cars so much, but have never tested the £55k car that will kick all those supercars asses just ridiculous.

Jezza used to love the old Exige, think of what he'd think of the new one!!!

TG. Unfortunately now reinforced after last night as:- Total Garbage it's a shame as parts of it are enjoyable, but as said, half of the show devoted to two morons crashing into everything in Peugeots beggars belief. They are obviously getting desperate to pad out the show. Perhaps they could highlight some of the grass roots motor sport and perhaps only highlight cars that the manufacturer will happily allow testing of on their test track.
