EXHAUST MANIFOLD UPGRADE.

Recommended Posts

Are you sure it wasnt just an updated re run production of a standard type manifold for the g turbo, maybe with a few updates to material or webbing design, as opposed to a fully developed and tuned power handling unit?

Mfranke is referring to the replacement standard cast manifolds that Lotus reproduced a couple of years ago. They were life savers at the time but nothing like Changes design and manufacture. Great job Changes, please add my name to the list. I'd add it myself but on the IPad it's not a bundle of fun to do :-)

Trevor.

I'll get around to it at some point.

Looks like this may get off the ground. I'm moving from Interested well towards Yes. Anyone have an idea of what it would cost to get one shipped to USA? I assume the VAT would not apply to export sales, which might help offset the shipping expense.

The below has been posted on the turboesprit yahoo group, so hopefully they are registering their interest:

UPDATE.

I seem to be getting a lot of positive interest from to USA which will be important

to insure the quantity needed is reached to hold the price.

However with shipping and customs charges , things may change there. I am still

looking into the most cost effective way and details of how to do this.

Dave, after all your hard work on what will doubtless be a quality product, I'd be mad not to order one. So I'll have two, please. One in storage for me, and the other for the first unfortunate to present me with a cracked one next year!

Hi Alan yes it does fit GT3 and it is in stainless, As for fitting that is up to

you, Any quality mechanic preferably familiar with the Esprit will be able

to do the work. The hardest part of the job is getting the old unit off..

Depending on where you are based there will be someone on this forum

who will be able to recommend a capably mechanic and local to you..

Hi Dave,

You can put one down for me as well. I'd be mad after rebuilding the engine and not go for this option.

The reason for the rebuild was, at high speed the oil cooler pipe to give way, emptying the oil all over the road. By the time I got the car into the hard shoulder I had sun a big end bearing. So a full rebuild was in order. Reground and polished crank, rehoned conrod. Balance crank flywheel and clutch housing. Ported and polished head. High lift inlet camshaft. Ported plenium. t3/4 cosworth upgraded turbo. Straight thru exhaust pipe with centre exit with porsche cayman exhaust tip. Custom air intake. Upgraded coil pack. 104' inlet and exhaust pullies. No.6 race chip. Arp head studs. New AC rad which I have plumbed into the charge cooler rad like the S300 to give more cooling capacity. Electric charge cooler pump. I have yet to choose fuel injectors. So I think the new exhaust manifold will compliment all my other ugrades?

Other upgrades I have carried out:

removed the delco abs brakes system. I now have a nissan patrol servo and master cylinder feeding AP racing front calipers and custom 4 piston rear calipers mounted on S300 brackets. These calipers are squeezing on S350 front and rear disc's mounted on alloy bells. The nissan servo is feed by an S3 vavuum pump fitted on a custom bracket where the AC pump used to be. The vacuum is feed into an Audi A6 vacuum resevoir with non return valves and then into a turbo bleed valve with gaiuge before entering into the servo. This means I can adjust the amount of vacuum assist I have and by having the gauge, makes it easier to adjust. The brakes are eye popping now.

Mark, you'll also find that the new turbo will be slightly offset compared to the original, requiring modification to the pipe receiving the turbo output.

It is looking promising, As soon as the NEC show is over i will be removing mine

from the Esprit to take to the manufacturer to finalise tooling and design details.

At This point will be asking for deposits to confirm how many are defiantly interested.

As long as I get the twenty we should be good to go...

I will keep updated as it happens..
