I thought a few of you might be interested to see Nigel Mansell's and Elio De Angelis's Lotus Essex pit bike restored.

Original seat cover which was wrapped in black tape. Think we will get a black cover to make it look like how it was. Black tape is a bit crude.

Have been driving it on nice days. How's about your esprit ?

Just ordered some new wheels for it's, the originals, rather than Wolfrace that are on it. Tyres are proving hard to source for the size.

Not had the europa long

How do these people have a license?

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Have these been mentioned before? A friend pointed me towards the "Petrolicious" classic car related videos, and they are brilliantly produced for a home brewed effort. They can be viewed on the usual Youtube/Vimeo or on their own website, and I'd rather watch just one than a whole episode of Top Gear

For me the allure of classic cars is as much about the stories surrounding them, the people who built them, the owners and  enthusiasts than the nuts and bolts. These videos capture that sentiment perfectly. :make other happy:

I haven't watched them all yet but these stand out so far. If you have a spare 5 minute break and a mug of tea, one of these will fill it nicely! :B)

and I dare you not to have a lump in your throat at the end of these, 2 guys in their twilight years reunited with cars from their youth;

Arhh it was Bertone!

Buddsy :unworthy:

IMHO The Grifo matches the much lauded Miura for looks, and I bet it's a darned sight easier to own.

They also both have the hand of the 2 most influential car stylists of the last 50 year. The Grifo in the video is an original design by Giugiaro, tweaked by Gandini, and the Muira was a sketch by Giugiaro completed by Gandini

Hows this for a bit of name dropping, was having a chat with the Mrs a few weeks ago and she mentioned that her grandfather was an architect in London and used to visit a friend who was designing a superfast car, the guy wanted to break the land speak record and her grandfather was asked to help out with calculations on the body work, well the guy went on to complete the car and a few others since. It turned out the guys name was Richard Noble. The Mrs tracked him down the other day and he actually remembered her as a cheeky little shit that used to sit in his office while they were busy doing drawings, he was even kind enough to send copies of drawings of the car in question. A gentleman. But it's funny that our passion for cars comes from a long time back and that's how we first met, she wanted to steel my Éclat which is where the similarities started, My Éclat originally belonging to Andrew Ferguson and her grandfather assisting with the design of the Noble project car. Thrust, what a small world we live in. I eventually gave her the car as a wedding present last year so she wins hands down.
