The question is, what does "more widely accessible" mean? I guess we will see.

Some current models. I thought that was fairly obvious to be honest given the goal to increase unit sales.

I think their time has been and gone. Mazda are discontinuing and in general they are being implemented thinner (i.e. like a letterbox) into the dash (new 911, Merc E and S Class) or, they are being more fully integrated to the main speedo binnacle. Plenty of evidence out there to show accidents are on the increase due to people faffing about with screens and that was certainly Mazda's justification for its move.

I visited the factory in 87 and Lotus made the seats in the Esprit wider just for the US market

Good to know if I ever buy an Esprit. Must get the US seats.... :)

Or develop the 311 screen so all you need is on there? Scroll button to move from driver focused (speed, revs, gears, temps etc) to journey focused (speed, satnav, monitoring). Can't be that hard really, surely.

Small rotary dial conveniently placed, no cd/ice screen separate, nice and clean (better still simple steering wheel touch button and Volvo's speech recognition/activation system - that would open huge options for the interior to break the mould and be in the true Lotus spirit of innovation, design, forward looking etc). I'd love to see the Evija interior approach taken. Very minimalist, sharp, and clean. I really love it.

Well manufactures are experimenting a bit with Display Screens.

As you can see the new Mazda MX-30 has not 1, but 2 - a 7" colour touch screen to display the climate control settings and an 8.8" one to display with Mazda Connect system.

The new Corvette C8 will soon be available in RHD from £81,000. Lotus take note.

Do you have link that's says, that's actually going to happen?

Australia being RHD, the recent demise of the GM local brand of Holden and the closing of all dealerships this article and its scenarios and GM not being loyal to anything, there is a possibility the RHD C8 many never happen, through dealers as there are non here now. only specialists and that will jack the price up considerably

Just read the article and thread.  It's an interesting proposition at that price point, and a lot of bang for the buck.  It'll be intriguing to see more detail on what Lotus has planned for next year's new car.  There's a (very real?) risk that at that kind of money Lotus could lose potential ABP sales. (Anything but Pork).  Having watched 'vettes go around Le Sarthe for over a decade now, it's a marque that has wormed it's way in to my affections.  (Funny how seeing a brand race other cars in it's class will do that).  It's a few hundred kilo's over an Evora in terms of weight, and we all know the effect extra mass can have on a car, regardless of the power.  But that is SOME power it's sporting...

As an aside, there's the usual PH twattery that has already decided that "such-and-such car" is better.  Which is fascinating give that none of them have driven the thing.

Back on Topic. In the PH thread there's a poster who has already voted with his wallet and has been informed that he'll be getting his car late next year.  Might be time for Lotus to start drip feeding a little bit more of a "taste of what's to come".  At the risk of stoking some righteous indignation on here, the timelines are about right for my next purchase, which for the right car/deal could be new... and I like this new 'vette.  A lot.  I'll certainly be taking one for a test drive.

Well, I have now seen a new C8 over here in Geelong. Red one. Have not been able to see in yet as to whether it is LHD or RHD.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.
