Evora market watch, for discussion and to help those searching!

The internet should never be used to diagnose car faults or health issues otherwise we would all have convinced ourselves we had multiple end of life illnesses when all we had was a blackheaded spot on our arses.....

In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

It's a bit like searching Google for medical advice. Always find the worst case. "Google, search for 'pain in my foot'" .... "You're suffering from Lou Bega Disease, life expectancy is 2 weeks"

If you're concerned about clutch/gearbox issues, have a look at the IPS. I've been considering it as they're cheaper and actually a decent autobox, if not PDK levels. In my research I found plenty of people who drove both manual and IPS and walked out with the latter. Not had chance to try one myself yet.

Also, is it me, or is this Evora now been "deposit taken" twice and back on the market yet again?

Car looks lovely, but for me it's *too* red. If it was just the seats and maybe a bit on the dash against the black, but it looks like a ....well I don't really want to say.

Thank you for your assurance. It is just me worried to be unlucky again after had 3 engine failure in the last year. None of them was my fault. 991 owned from new, never taken to track or launch controlled needed a new engine at 6k miles. SL500 approved used was rejected 4 days after purchase because oil leak damaged electric loom and ECU. Finally, wife’ TT is currently having engine rebuild due to timing chain failure. I look after my cars, break in and always do the service as scheduled  but again it is my luck. But people say things come in threes so hopefully will have better luck with my next car.

Well you will buy German s***e. A Lotus is built in Norfolk by turnip farmers and it's built to last

Your post above is a perfect example of how the German manufacturers have hood winked the British car driving public into buying their over priced cars

Unfortunately Porsche engines aren't built to last, or rather they have a design flaw that leads to the bore scoring and oil burning issues.  Its incredible really how hoodwinked we've all become about engine reliability from Germany, where basically every Boxster and Cayman is susceptible to this issue, and from my research when I was considering a Caymen, Porsche do not do anything about it and provide little to very difficult to get financial support of subsequent repairs.

So while none of us can guarantee a trouble free Evora, the odds nonetheless are with you that it'll be a good one.  Mines on 60k miles by the way and drives perfect.  It's at the garage this weekend for a fix to the side indicator and front ARB bush.  Pennies...

I'm not normally a fan of white cars but I think this works quite well on this 410

Looks like some kind of tartan panda with the black surrounds on the rear brake lights. The long black strip isn't even aligned with the panel gaps. Bleh.

Anyone know this car? RX59AXO

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201809050202728

2009 2+2 (LE) and it's well priced for a dealer car. MOT history all looks OK, few usual minor issues. Good colour combo (IMO).

Edit- Hmm. Dealer has some terrible reviews about the condition of the cars they sell. Not good.

Cheap car, looks nice. Get a specialist to check it over and expect a clutch replacement sometime- just due to normal wear. Obviously ignore any warranty the dealer offers, going by their feedback.

For a dealer that looks like a good price.

I just got my Evora from that part of the world. I got it checked at Snows Lotus at Hedge End. It cost £90.00 and was worth every penny for that piece of mind. They provided a report along with costings to put right anything they identified which makes it much easier to make an informed decision.

knowing how they didn’t notice a car had been extensively repaired.... I wouldn’t trust them to provide a report on any car.... I certainly wouldn’t pay £90 for it.

Williams is my (very) local dealer.  Haven't given the car a full inspection, but a quick walk around it looked tidy.  They are a great Dealership to work with, and I think it has been with them for a while.

The red one at Williams would look great with the SR scheme. I'm be tempted myself if it was a 2+2...but then I guess it wouldn't still be for sale ;)

Surprised to see the (private) Yellow SR is still for sale. I thought that would have been snapped up.

Saw this on Autotrader earlier this evening and was planning to give them a buzz first thing tomorrow morning.

But then I spied that all was not as implied in the headline. :(

I also spotted the twin tailpipe, but this is never a guarantee with aftermarket exhausts.
