  1. Ti used rubber gaskets on my Esprit and they worked well.
  2. A bit disappointing that most of this thread concerns the styling of the carrather than its technical merits including complaining a out the look of the fan rather than saying how cleverly it's being used. It will be very interesting to read how the aerodynamic tricks work in practice. Keeping the weight below 1000kg while running over 600bhp and retaining the three-place seating of the F1 is pretty impressive. The engine itself looks like it's a work of art. The attention to detail such as making sure the tyres aren't super-special and likely to become unobtainable in the near future is extraordinary. Should be a fabulous car.
  3. Walked past a Maestro parked in the village the other day. Someon around here has a Ford Probe on their drive while there is a Mk111 or MkIV in use just up the road.
  4. According to BaT's web site you can bid from anywhere as long as you have a valid credit card. Link to BaT answer about bidding from outside US
  5. Until you tear up and some of those tears go down those little drain holes in the corners of your eyes and drain into the nose (that's why you have to blow your nose when you cry). This can then take virus particles into the respiratory system.
  6. Not sure what you mean by "dual throttle body injection dellotro carberatuers". Does it have injection? Sounds like it's carburettors only. In that case, the fuel pump should run for a few seconds to fill up the float chambers and then stop until some fuel is used. If the pump is running all the time you either have a fuel leak (which I would expect you to notice from the smell of fuel) or no fuel is getting to the pump, possibly because of dirt in the tank blocking the tank fuel outlet. You can either take the lid off one carb to see whether there is fuel in the float chamber or pump the throttle a few times and see whether fuel is being squirted into the manifold. You need to remove the air filter to see this.
  7. Someone's being unhelpful. My wife has seen a physio 3 times since the start of lockdown. The practice was shut for a while but was later allowed to open.
  8. Here's some examples of why so many people want to reform the American police. Although it's hidden behind a paywall, there's enough legible here to give an idea of why there were demonstrations here.
  9. Nor me on a personal level but like you, I'm white. When Obama was first running for president and I was living in North Carolina, there was plenty of race-based opposition to his election on local radio. One point not discussed in this thread is that many US policemen are effectively immune from prosecution for killing people in their custody.
  10. Over on LotusExcel.net there is someone reporting on his progress in fitting a Lexus V8 to an Excel.
  11. I agree but an ex-boss of mine, who is in his late 50's, loves Austin 7s. Another loves Model Ts. It's not rational.
  12. I would like to thank him for giving us a design that looks even more exciting now than when it debuted 46 years ago and to hope he gets better soon, Trevor.
  13. Glad to see you are up and running again, John. I was worried you might be stranded somewhere where you wouldn't want to be and unable to return home. Looks you have plenty on the go.
  14. Australia, Japan and South Africa drive on left, i.e. right-hand drive, for example so export-only models could have been RHD. I don't know whether the S1 was sent to those markets, mind.
  15. Try working in a standard-size 8' x 16' English garage. I miss the 20' x 20' US garages. Great write up on the wiring. Keep up the fight!
  16. Sticking to the Lotus I have driven, I would say the Esprit for the sense of occasion. It's the only car I've driven where people have given my the thumbs up as they have come past on the motorway and asked to take its picture when I have parked it. For the sense of occasion for the driver, I would say the S1 Elise (I haven't driven a 7). It's so alive and responsive that it grabs your senses. In truth, though, there is no greatest Lotus. It's entirely subjective.
  17. I don't know if this forum has many people experienced with working on this engine as it isn't fitted to any Lotus.
  18. First heard of him in, "I'm Sorry. I'll Read That Again.£ It was the forerunner of Python in some ways. Loved the Goodies and £I'm Sorry. I Haven't A Clue." RIP.
  19. Not exactly the same. We have a free press and an opposition party. Not as many dissenters get put in jail here.
  20. There is a lever from the throttle spindle for the solenoid to push against when energised. In the second photo, you can make out the adjustable screw against which the jack pushes.
  21. Thanks for organising that, Richard. It was good to be able to put some faces to usernames. Shame we didn't get chance to take advantage of the first meeting's extra minutes but looking forwards to the next one.
